The not-for-profit Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft mbH (AHG), formally the Alfred Herrhausen Society for International Dialogue is Deutsche Bank's international forum. Founded in 1992, the society is named after the spokesman of Deutsche Bank's board of directors, Alfred Herrhausen, who was assassinated in 1989. [1] [2] It is part of Deutsche Bank's commitment to civil society. [3] Since 2016, Its managing director has been Alfred Herrhausen's daughter Anna Herrhausen. [4]

The work of the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft focuses on the three programs "Cities," "Europe" and "Free Thinking." [5]

The “Cities” programme is characterised by a long-standing collaboration with LSE Cities, an international research center for urban development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The goal of the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft is to promote the exchange of ideas and the discussion of important issues of the day. It has a network of partner institutions from around the world.

Alfred Herrhausen was a German banker and the Chairman of Deutsche Bank, who was assassinated in 1989. He was a member of the Steering Committee of the Bilderberg Group and from 1971 onwards a member of Deutsche Bank's management board. An advisor to Helmut Kohl and a proponent of a unified European economy, he was also an influential figure in shaping the policies towards developing countries. He was assassinated, probably by the West German far-left terrorist group Red Army Faction, when an explosively formed projectile penetrated his armoured convoy.

The Deutsche Bank Prize in Financial Economics honors renowned researchers who have made influential contributions to the fields of finance and money and macroeconomics, and whose work has led to practical and policy-relevant results. It was awarded biannually from 2005 to 2015 by the Center for Financial Studies (CFS), in partnership with Goethe University Frankfurt, and is sponsored by Deutsche Bank Donation Fund. Urban Age is a research programme started in 2005. It is led by LSE Cities with support from Deutsche Bank’s Alfred Herrhausen Society into the relationship between the shape and society of cities. Research includes comparing urbanisation in already urbanised and currently urbanising regions of the world. Urban Age emerged as a product of the research and ideas of LSE Cities' Ricky Burdett, Philipp Rode and Richard Sennett and has since centred around conferences in a range of cities worldwide, as well as accompanying newspapers containing both global data sets and in-depth case studies.
