Alfredas Vainauskas, born 16 January 1961 in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR), is a Lithuanian basketball coach, currently coaching Utena women's basketball team.[ timeframe? ]
In 1978, Vainauskas started his career with BC Statyba. With this team, he won a bronze medal in the USSR League in 1979. In 1989, Vainauskas, along with his teammate Šarūnas Marčiulionis, left the team and played abroad, in Slovakia ("BC Prievidza") for two seasons, in Hungary ("BC Debreceni") for one season and in Czech Republic ("BC Kunin") for two seasons. In 1994, he returned to Statyba, and, after the season, concluded his basketball playing career.
In 1995, Vainauskas became the assistant coach of Statyba. After the team dissolved in 1997, he continued coaching their successors, BC Lietuvos rytas until 2002. During his tenure with the team, he became the LKL champion twice, the now–defunct NEBL champion once, and the LKF Cup champion once. During the 2001–02 season, he teamed up with his former Statyba teammate Jonas Kazlauskas and assisted the team to a NEBL and a LKL championship victory.
In 2004, he switched to coaching women's basketball teams. He coached BC Lietuvos Telekomas for three seasons. He served as the assistant coach for Lithuania women's national team participating in EuroBasket 2007. During 2008–09 season, he was the assistant coach of WBC Dynamo Kursk and became the team's head coach in 2011. He led the team to its first EuroCup championship title in 2012, and, as a result, was named by FIBA coach of the year in European women's basketball. He coached the team for one and half more seasons, losing his position in November 2013.
On 24 December 2012, he was named the head coach of the Russian national team. [1] The team, named as one of the favorites in the EuroBasket 2013, suffered a shocking fate, and was eliminated in the group stage. Not only was this the worst EuroBasket appearance for the team, but it also lost its usual spot at the 2014 World Championship. On 21 October 2013, under heavy criticism from the Russian Basketball Federation, Vainauskas resigned from the post.
Basketball Club Žalgiris is a professional basketball team that is based in Kaunas, Lithuania, and competes domestically in the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga. Founded in 1944, it is one of the oldest teams in the EuroLeague. Žalgiris is one of 11 European clubs to hold long-term licenses with the EuroLeague, which provides a guaranteed place in the regular-season phase of this league. Since the 2011–12 season, Žalgiris plays its home games in Žalgiris Arena, which was built just before EuroBasket 2011. The club's name commemorates the victorious Battle of Žalgiris. Both Žalgiris and Grunwald translate to "green wood".
Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 12 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including the top-tier level EuroLeague.
Rytas Vilnius is a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Vilnius, Lithuania. The club was founded in 1997 from another club, Statyba, and has become one of the most successful Lithuanian basketball clubs. Rytas have won two EuroCup titles, six Lithuanian League titles, three Lithuanian Cups and three Baltic Championships. The team plays their home games at the 11,000-seat Avia Solutions Group Arena and the 2,741-seat Jeep Arena.
Rimas Kurtinaitis is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach, and a retired professional basketball player, who was a member of the senior Soviet and Lithuanian national basketball teams during his playing career. He won a gold medal at 1988 Olympics in South Korea. He recently worked as the head coach for Khimki. At a height of 1.96 m (6'5") tall, during his playing career, he played at the shooting guard position. He is the only non-NBA player to ever participate at the NBA All-Star Weekend's Three-Point Contest, doing so in 1989, where he scored 9 points.
Basketball Club Neptūnas, commonly known as Neptūnas or Neptūnas Klaipėda, is a Lithuanian professional basketball team based in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The club participates in the Lithuanian Basketball League and internationally in the Champions League. It was founded in 1962 under the name BC Maistas and in 1964, BC Maistas's name was changed to BC Neptūnas. The club carries the name of the Roman sea god Neptune. Neptūnas participated in the 2014–15 EuroLeague season and is only the third Lithuanian club to participate in the premier European basketball league, after Žalgiris and Rytas.

BC Sakalai was a professional basketball club based in Vilnius, Lithuania, playing in the Lithuanian Basketball League and the Baltic Basketball League. They played their home games at the 1,000-seat Ekinstos laisvalaikio centras.

Jonas Kazlauskas is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach of the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Giedrius Gustas is a former Lithuanian professional basketball player. At the height of 1.90 m tall and a weight of 86 kg, he mainly played at the point guard position. During his club playing career, as a member of Žalgiris Kaunas, he won the EuroLeague championship in 1999. As a member of the Barons LMT, he won the Europe Cup championship in 2008. He was also a member of the senior Lithuanian national team, and with Lithuania, he won the gold medal at the 2003 EuroBasket and the bronze medal at the 2007 EuroBasket.

BC Lietkabelis, also currently known as BC 7bet-Lietkabelis or 7bet-Lietkabelis for sponsorship reasons, is a Lithuanian professional basketball team based in Panevėžys, Lithuania, participating in the Lithuanian Basketball League and internationally in the EuroCup. It was BC TECHasas till 2012. In October 2011 club owner Darius Gaudiešius donated the basketball club to Algirdas Kriščiūnas, Antanas Kazys Liorentas and Kazimieras Antanynas, related with Ūkio bankas Club got back the legendary name Lietkabelis in 2012.
Robertas Kuncaitis is a Lithuanian basketball coach who is currently an assistant coach for BC Khimki. He was a head coach of Neptūnas and assistant coach of the Lithuania national basketball team in the 2010–2011 season. On 6 May 2011, Neptūnas terminated the contract with Robertas Kuncaitis because of poor results.
Kęstutis Šeštokas is a Lithuanian professional basketball player, who plays at the power forward position. He last played for Molėtai Ežerūnas-Karys basketball team. He is the only player who has won the domestic leagues of all three Baltic states. His major trophies include the Euroleague title in 1999, the ULEB Cup title in 2005 and the Saporta Cup in 1998 as well as many regional and domestic titles.

BC Juventus, also known as Uniclub Casino Juventus for sponsorship reasons, is a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Utena, Lithuania. Founded in 1999, the club currently plays in the Lithuanian Basketball League.
BC Prienai, also known by the sponsor name Labas Gas, is a professional basketball club based in Prienai, Lithuania. They play domestically in Lithuanian Basketball League every year. During the 2008–09 season, then called Rūdupis, they became the champion of the NKL and won the challenge match for a slot in the LKL. In their debut LKL season Rūdupis took seventh place, while next two seasons brought BC Prienai two bronze LKL medals. BC Prienai played in EuroCup 2011–12 with moderate success; the team won 3 games out of 6, but nonetheless failed to qualify for the next stage. More recently, the team has become a strong competitor in domestic tournaments, more than once upsetting teams such as Žalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius. In December 2017, in a highly publicized move, Vytautas signed American basketball players and brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball.
