Algol (magazine)

Algol was an avant-garde Catalan magazine edited by the artistic group Dau al Set and first published in 1947. It was founded by Joan Pons and Joan Brossa and edited by Enric Tomo i Freixes. Only 100 copies of Algol were published which all appeared in 1947. The 12-page magazine was printed on guarro, a type of linen paper.[ clarification needed ]

Dau al Set was formed by the poet Joan Brossa, the philosopher Arnau Puig and the painters Joan Pons, Antoni Tàpies, Modest Cuixart and Joan-Josep Tharrats. It was a very important group in the Spanish post-war era. [1] The magazine included literary texts by Brossa and Puig and illustrations by Pons, Jordi Mercadé and Francesc Boadella. [2]

The group later published another magazine, called Dau al Set after their own name, which was the sequel to Algol. Dau al Set was first published in 1948 and had a total of 56 pages. It also contained works by Brossa, Puig, and many other artists. [1]

Dau al Set, the first post-World War II artistic movement in Catalonia, was founded in Barcelona in September 1948 by poet Joan Brossa. The movement, best known for translating the conscious and unconscious mind into art, was heavily influenced by both the Surrealist and Dadaist movements. In Catalan Dau al Set means "the seventh face of the dice", which expresses the movement's rupturist character.

Dau al set was a Catalan avant-garde magazine founded in September 1948 by Joan-Josep Tharrats and directed by Joan Ponç. The magazine was produced by the artistic group Dau al Set. It was the continuation of another magazine called Algol (magazine) published by the same group. The magazine had eight pages measuring 250 mm × 175 mm. The texts were written in Catalan and Spanish. The magazine continued publishing numbers until December 1951.

<i>Troços</i>

Troços is an avant-garde Catalan magazine published for the first time in 1916. It was directed by Josep Maria Junoy, who was also the owner of the magazine. Only 101 copies were printed of the first edition. This number had 8 pages and the measurements were 223 x 135 mm. Its impression was a high quality one and it was done in the printing house Oliva de Vilanova. Its price was 2.50 pesetas.

Brossa Espai Escènic

Brossa Espai Escènic is a small theatre in Barcelona inaugurated in December 1997. It is intimately related to the creative universe of Joan Brossa i Cuervo and to the artistic and historic avant-garde activities and contemporary creation. Its founders and co-directors are actor and director Hermann Bonnín and magician Hausson.
