Ali Aghamohammadi is the former deputy vice president for economic affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. [1] He is currently member of the Expediency Discernment Council.
He was noted for his 2011 statement that the Iranian government is working on a "halal" (Islamically permitted) version of the Internet. “Iran will soon create an internet that conforms to Islamic principles,to improve its communication and trade links with the world." [2] Some raised doubts about the feasibility of such a network. [2]

Reporters Without Borders ranked Iran 173 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index,which ranks countries from 1 to 180 based on the level of freedom of the press. The government also blocks some streaming services,including Netflix and Hulu. Sites relating to health,science,sports,news,pornography and shopping are also routinely blocked.
Religion in Iran has been shaped by multiple religions and sects over the course of the country's history. Zoroastrianism was the main followed religion during the Achaemenid Empire,the Parthian Empire,and the Sasanian Empire. In 651 AD,the Rashidun Caliphate conquered Persia and spread Islam as the main religion. Sunnism was the predominant form of Islam before the devastating Mongol conquest,but subsequently,Shi'ism became eventually utterly dominant in all of Iran with the advent of the Safavids.
There are many claims that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has repeatedly intervened in the internal affairs of Iran,from the Mossadegh coup of 1953 to the present time. A series of nationwide civil protests in Iran,sometimes known as Bloody November or Bloody Aban took place in 2019 and 2020.
