Mir Ali Ahmed Khan Talpur (died 5 April 1987) was a Pakistani politician who served as the 15th defence minister of Pakistan from 1978 to 1985 in the government of general Zia-ul-Haq. [1] Prior to his appointment as defence minister,he served as agriculture and food minister in East Pakistan from 1955 to 56. [3]
Mir Sahib was born on 31 August 1915 in his hometown Tando Mir Mahmood Hyderabad,Sindh in the house of Mir Nabi Bakhsh Khan Talpur. He started his political career when he joined Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in 1936. Later in 1939,he joined Khaksar movement when Inayatullah Khan Mashriqi invited him. When Mashriqui was imprisoned in 1941,Talpur was elected as the acting head of the movement for the 22 months. However,in 1944 he disassociated himself from the movement after Allama wrote a letter to him concerning his role in forming Fidayeen-e-Ameer (Islamic military organisation) in Sindh against the movement,and he subsequently joined the Indian National Congress to participate in the Indian independence movement. He allegedly opposed the partition of India. When Pakistan was formed as a sovereign state in 1947,he was imprisoned for six months under court-martial law. [2]
He was among the five cabinet ministers to support Zia's campaign for Islamic law enforcement in Pakistan. [4] He had been living in London for the purpose of treatment since October 1986,where he died on 5 April 1987. Mir's body was brought back to country and buried in his ancestral graveyard "Ganju Takkar" in Hyderabad,Sindh on 8 April 1987. President of the country,Provincial Governors high military and senior civil officials and Political and social figures participated in Mir Sahib's funeral prayer,the prayer was led by Moulana Muhammad Ali Rezvi,ex:MNA. Sindh Jo Syed Sain G.M Syed was also present on this time.

The Battle of Miani was a battle between forces of the Bombay Army of the East India Company,under the command of Charles Napier and the Baluch army of Talpur Amirs of Sindh,led by Mir Nasir Khan Talpur. The battle took place on 17 February 1843 at Miani,Sindh,in what is now modern-day Pakistan. This battle and the subsequent Battle of Hyderabad eventually led to the capture of parts of Sindh region,first territorial possession by the East India Company in what is the modern-day state of Pakistan.
Abdul Hafeez Pirzada was a Pakistani lawyer,legal theorist,and politician,who served variously as minister for information,minister for law,minister for finance,and minister for education under president and later prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto from 1971 to 1977. As law minister,he is credited as a principal draftsman of the Constitution of Pakistan,passed in 1973.
Dr. Khan Sahib,mistakenly named as Khan Abdul Jabbar Khan,was a pioneer in the Indian Independence Movement and later,a Pakistani politician. He was the elder brother of the Pashtun activist Abdul Ghaffar Khan,both of whom opposed the partition of India. Upon independence,he pledged his allegiance to Pakistan and later served as the First Chief Minister of West Pakistan.

Mir Sher Muhammad Talpur was the last Mir of Mirpur Khas who belonged to the Mankani house of the royal Talpur dynasty. The son of Mir Ali Murad Talpur,the founder of Mirpur Khas,he took up the throne in 1829 and held onto it until he was defeated in the Battle of Hyderabad in 1843.
The Talpur dynasty were rulers based in Sindh,a region of present-day Pakistan. General Hosh Muhammad Sheedi Qambrani or Hoshu Sheedi was an Askari unit,and also supreme commander of Sindh's Talpur army led by Mir Sher Muhammad Khan Talpur. Hoshu Sheedi fought against the British forces under Sir Charles James Napier at the Battle of Hyderabad,and was killed during battle in 24 March 1843. Hosh Muhammad belonged to the Soomro community of Sindh,Pakistan. Before his death in the Battle of Hyderabad,he called out the famous slogan:

Jam Saqi popularly known as Comrade Jam Saqi,was a left-wing politician from Sindh,Pakistan. He was previously the general secretary of the Communist Party of Pakistan. Saqi was imprisoned for more than 15 years due to his political activities. During his period in jail his then wife,Sukhan,had committed suicide after reading a newspaper containing allegations of Jam Saqi's death. He then left the Communist Party in 1991 and joined the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Trotskyist The Struggle group. He was married to Akhtar Sultana.

He joined Baloch Movement in 1973 and then Awami Tahreek of Rasool Bux Palijo. He supported Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah against Field Marshal Muhammad Ayoob Khan,the Milirary dictator of Pakistan. He also opposed General Zia's Marshal Law. Despite owning thousands of acres of agricultural land,he spent his life trying to provide solace to the dirt-poor masses of Sindh.
