Ali Ahusan Ihusan (born 3 June 1986, Male', Maldives) is a Maldivian Journalist, a self-employed web designer and the owner of Islamic publications; Dhiislam Magazine and Dhiislam Online news. He also was a member of Maldives Media Council from 2018 to 2020.

Ali Ahusan Ihusan is considered by many[ who? ] as one of the many elements who facilitated the coup of 7 February 2011 in the Maldives. [2] He is also known for creating one of the promotional websites supporting the mass protest held on 23 December 2011 in Maldives which was supported by many Islamists of the Maldives. This mass protest played an important role in overthrowing President Mohamed Nasheed's Government on 7 February 2011. [3] [4] [5] [6] He was arrested for 24 hours by Maldives Police Service after the publication of the website which openly issued death threats to anyone who is against the doctrine of Islam (Islamic Fundamentalism) he followed. [7] However, his lawyer, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, a Maldivian Islamic scholar facilitated his release. [7] Maldives Police Service later stated that they wanted to clarify as to who instructed him to develop the website and as to who published the information on it.

In 2009 he created an Islamic fundamentalist online blog called Dhiislam and it later became a registered online news website for Islamic news. [8] In 2011 he started to print a magazine spreading fundamentalist and extremist doctrine of Islam by the name of Dhiislam. Moreover, he is responsible for publishing the weekly Islamist magazine Hidhaayathuge Ali for which he received funding during the term of his lawyer, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, as the minister of Islamic Affairs. Presidential elections were held in the Maldives on 7, 9 and 16 November 2013. The first round was held on 7 September. As no candidate received a majority, a second round was planned to be held in 28 September between the candidates who received the most votes in the first round, former President Mohamed Nasheed and Abdulla Yameen, paternal half-brother of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Al Amir Mohammed Waheed Deen is a Maldivian politician who served vice president of the Maldives from 25 April 2012 to 10 November 2013. He was appointed to the position by President Mohamed Waheed Hassan on 15 February 2012, following the disputed resignation of the previous president, Mohamed Nasheed. He is also the Chairman of Bandos Maldives.

The 2011–2013 Maldives political crisis began as a series of peaceful protests that broke out in the Maldives on 1 May 2011. They would continue, eventually escalating into the resignation of President Mohamed Nasheed in disputed circumstances in February 2012. Demonstrators were protesting what they considered the government's mismanagement of the economy and were calling for the ouster of President Nasheed. The main political opposition party in the country, the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party led by the former president of the country Maumoon Abdul Gayoom accused President Nasheed of "talking about democracy but not putting it into practice." The protests occurred during the Arab Spring.

Human rights in the Maldives, an archipelagic nation of 417,000 people off the coast of the Indian Subcontinent, is a contentious issue. In its 2011 Freedom in the World report, Freedom House declared the Maldives "Partly Free", claiming a reform process which had made headway in 2009 and 2010 had stalled. The United States Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor claims in their 2012 report on human rights practices in the country that the most significant problems are corruption, lack of religious freedom, and abuse and unequal treatment of women.

Husnu Al Suood born in Meedhoo is a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Maldives since 8 December 2019. He was the Attorney General of the Maldives from June 2009 to August 2010. He served as the Chief Judge of the Civil Court and as a member of the Judicial Service Commission of Maldives. He also served as a member of the National Human Rights Commission of the Maldives from 2003 to 2005. As a member of the Special Majlis Suood participated in drafting the current constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

Fathis Handhuvaruge Feshun 3D is a 2013 Maldivian romantic horror film directed by Ali Shifau. Produced by Mohamed Ali under Dark Rain Entertainment, the film stars Yoosuf Shafeeu, Fathimath Fareela and Ahmed Nimal in pivotal roles. The film was released on 4 April 2013. It serves as a prequel to Fathis Handhuvaru (1997) which starred Reeko Moosa Manik and Niuma Mohamed in lead roles. It also celebrates the first 3D Maldivian film released in the cinema.

Loabi Nulibunas is a 2005 Maldivian television drama series developed for Television Maldives by Waleedha Waleed. The series stars Sheereen Abdul Wahid, Niuma Mohamed, Sheela Najeeb and Ali Seezan in pivotal roles.
