Ali Ihusaan is a Maldivian politician who is currently serving as the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology since 17 November 2023. [1] He also served as a member of Maldives Monetary Authority. [2]
Ihusaan was born in Feydhoo,Addu City,Seenu Atoll,Maldives. [3] He was born to former Feydhoo MP,Ibrahim Didi. [4] Ihusaan obtained a bachelor's degree in the United States Military Academy. He is the first non-US citizen to be appointed as Brigade Executive Officer in the United States Corps of Cadets. He completed a master's degree in Business Administration from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and did further air-borne trainings with the US military. [4] [5]
Ihusaan served in the Maldives National Defence Force until he voluntarily retired in 2017. He retired as captain. After that he entered politics in 2021 and joined Maldives National Party (MNP) and left in 2022. [6] He joined the People's National Congress (Maldives) in 2022. On 17 November 2023,he was appointed as the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology by president Mohamed Muizzu. [1]
In 2025,leaked images showed Ihusaan supervising fake forms being prepared to send to the Elections Commission to increase the People's National Congress' membership,as part of the party's membership drive. [7] Ihussan denied the images,saying he was there to eat pizza and talk to employees. [8]
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is a Maldivian politician,statesman,diplomat and scholar who served as the 3rd president of the Maldives from 1978 to 2008. He previously served as the Minister of Transport from 1977 to 1978,and as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations from 1976 to 1977.
