Ahmed Ali Jimale (Somali : Ahmed Cali Jimcaale ) is a Somali author, who hails from the Maxamuud Hiraab sub clan of Duduble Hawiye.
Ahmed holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Current and former chair of Comparative Literature at Queens College, City University of New York, he teaches courses in African, Middle Eastern, and European literature. His poetry and short stories have also been translated into several languages, including Japanese and the languages spoken in the former Yugoslavia. His books include The Invention of Somalia (Red Sea Press, 1995), Daybreak Is Near: Literature, Clans, and the Nation-State in Somalia (Red Sea Press, 1996), and Fear Is a Cow (Red Sea Press, 2002).
Ahmed currently teaches Comparative Literature at Queens College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
The Isaaq is a major Somali clan. It is one of the largest Somali clan families in the Horn of Africa, with a large and densely populated traditional territory.

He is described as one of the best known resistance leaders in the history of southern Somalia.

In Kenya's North Eastern Province, Saransor make up the majority of the inhabitants of Wajir and have a significant presence in Mandera County they also have large population in Marsabit County and Isiolo County and Nairobi. In Ethiopia, a majority of the population of Liben Zone is Saransor they have very large population in Afdher, Dollo, Shabelle, Jarar, Dira Dawa and Jijiga.
Hubeer is a Somali clan, Settled in the regions of Bay, Lower Shabelle, Gedo and Lower Juba. The assassinated Somali Minister of Public Works Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh Siraji was a member of the Hubeer clan.Other prominent figures of this clan include Prof. Hussein Iman, one of the top Somalia agronomists, and Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Omar, formed Attorney General before the civil war.
Udejeen is a sub-clan of the Hawiye and a larger Samaale clan. It is one of the major Somali clans and has produced many prominent historical Somali figures including the first president of Somalia and various mayors in Somalia.
Abu Bakr Sabti are a Somali clan belonging to the larger Sabti sub-clan of the Murusade, which itself belongs to the larger Karanle branch of the Hawiye clan. Its members live in Banaadir, Mudug, Galgaduud and Lower Shebelle.
