Alia Al Shamsi (born 1982) is an Emirati author and poet. She is the Cultural Programming Manager at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. In 2011 she was the Emirates Woman Artist of the Year and she is identified as a role model. Her fourth book is a book of poetry.
Al Shamsi is an Emarati Italian. [1] She was born in Dubai in 1982. [2] She gained a degree in photography from Durham University in 2008. [3] She had made films with Khadija Hussein al-Buloshi. [4]
In 2011 she was the Emirates Woman Artist of the Year. [5]
Al Shamsi graduated with a photography degree in 2014 from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. Four years later she was awarded a master's degree from Durham University. [2]
In 2021 she was the Acting Cultural Programming Manager at the Louvre Abu Dhabi art museum. [2] She said that this did not define her because more importantly she was a poet, artist and photographer. [6]
In 2021 Harpars Bazaar magazine decided to arrange for six women to be given mentors. Six leading women achievers were chosen and Alia Al Shamsi was one of them. It was said to be an exercise in "women empowerment". She was asked about "women empowerment" and she said that the important idea was empowerment and there was no need to give it a gender. The May 2021 issue of Harper's Bazaar Arabia was devoted to this demonstration. [7] In 2021 she was profiled as a female leaders of note in the MENA region by Entrepreneur magazine. [6]
In 2024 she was still at the Louvre Abu Dhabi as the Cultural Programming Manager. [8]
In 2014 her children's book Alayah was published. It was illustrated and it concerned a story about a girl with sand in her hair. [9] The book was included in "Reading in Arabic Challenge" by Dubai Culture. [5] This was the first of four books she was involved in. In 2020 her fourth book was of poetry. Saadiyat Island is a natural island and a tourism-cultural environmentally friendly project for Emirati heritage and culture that is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The project is located in a large, low-lying island, 500 metres (1,600 ft) off the coast of Abu Dhabi island. A mixed commercial, residential, and leisure project is currently under construction on the island. When completed, Saadiyat Island is expected to become Abu Dhabi's cultural centre, mostly for the Island's Cultural District that is expected to include eight museums.

He was the President & CEO of the non-profit, UAE government owned Higher Colleges of Technology, which is the largest higher education institution in the UAE. He has held this role since March 2015 when he was appointed by Federal Decree by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Afra Atiq is an Emirati spoken word poet who was born in the United Arab Emirates to an Emirati father and a Japanese-American mother. Atiq holds a PhD in Media and Creative Industries from the United Arab Emirates University and is the co-founder of the Untitled Chapters, a collective of female Emirati writers. Now, she works as a full-time poet. In 2015, She was named the "Best Performer" by Rooftop Rhythms and won the Abu Dhabi Music and Art Foundation Creativity award for her poem "An Open Letter to Cancer" in 2017.
Aisha Khalaf Al Kaabi is an Emirati poet, short story writer, artist, and translator. She has been a member of Emirates Writers Union since 1997. She won the Emirates Women Award in Literature and Art in 2011 for her book No Consolation for House Cats. In 2012, she opened her own publishing house "IQRAni".
