The Alice Springs Golf Course, an 18-hole championship layout golf course designed by the architects Thomson Wolveridge, [3] was opened in 1985 by a challenge match between top professionals Greg Norman and Johnny Miller. [3] The course record of 64 is held jointly by, amateur members, Leigh Shacklady and Kerryn Heaver, beating professional Stuart Appleby's 65. [5] Adam Scott won the Australian Boys' Amateur Championship held there in 1997.

The Women's Australian Open is a women's professional golf tournament played in Australia, operated by Golf Australia and the WPGA Tour of Australasia, long co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). Beginning with the 2012 event, it is also co-sanctioned by the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. In 2008, it was the second-richest women's golf tournament on the ALPG Tour, with a prize fund of A$500,000, and was raised to A$600,000 in 2010. With the co-sanctioning by the LPGA, the total purse was nearly doubled, and was also fixed in U.S. dollars. The purse was US$1.1 million in 2012, and increased again to its current level of US$1.2 million for 2013. Since 2011, the tournament's name has been the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open.

Baltimore Country Club is a private club in Baltimore, Maryland, with two campuses, one in the city's Roland Park neighborhood and the other in the north suburb of Lutherville. Golf in Ireland dates to at least the mid-19th century, with the Royal Curragh Golf Club being founded in 1858. The two "oldest governing bodies in world golf", the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU), were formed in 1891 and 1893 respectively. By 2008, the GUI had 166,419 members and the ILGU had 49,822 members, making them the third and seventh largest sports associations by membership base in Ireland. Operating as separate unions for over 120 years, the two entities formed a combined organisation, Golf Ireland, which ratified its first board in early 2021.
Stuart Reese is a professional golfer from New Zealand. Reese was one of New Zealand's top amateur golfers in the 1970s, winning the 1975 New Zealand Amateur. Reese turned professional shortly thereafter, winning a number of minor tournaments in the Pacific islands before culminating with a win at the 1982 New Zealand PGA Championship. Late in his career, Reese has worked primarily as a swing instructor, advising a number of notable players, including superstars Tiger Woods and Lydia Ko.
