Alison Leatherbarrow is a former England women's international footballer. [1] She represented the England women's national football team at senior international level and spent most of her career at Fodens Ladies F.C. and St Helens, where she won the Women's FA Cup with both clubs. [2] [3]

Club Career

Her first WFA Cup final win came in 1974 when Fodens beat Southampton 2-1 in Bedford with Leatherbarrow scoring both of Fodens goals. [4] Her second title came in 1980 with St Helens when they beat Preston North End 1-0 at Southbury Park, Enfield. [5] Leatherbarrow became the first women to score for two different clubs in WFA Cup finals in 1981 when she scored for St Helens against Southampton at Knowsley Road, adding to her brace for Fodens in 1974. In addition to her victories in 1974 and 1980, Leatherbarrow also finished runner up in the competition in 1981, 1983 and 1987 whilst playing for St Helens. Leatherbarrow missed a penalty in the 1987 final which was saved by Tracey Davidson of Doncaster Belles. [2] In between playing for Fodens and St Helens, Leatherbarrow played for Prestatyn. [6]

International career

In November 2022, Leatherbarrow was recognized by The Football Association as one of the England national team's legacy players, and as the 25th women's player to be capped by England. In total she won 19 caps for England. [7] [8]

Later Life

After retirement from work, Leatherbarrow moved to live in Brittany, France. [1]

In 1978 Chapman scored a record six goals in the Women's FA Cup final in Southampton's 8–2 win over Queens Park Rangers. In total Chapman scored a record ten goals in WFA Cup finals and won the tournament six times between 1973 and 1981.

Pat Davies is an English former footballer who played as a striker for England and Southampton WFC. She played in England's first ever fixture against Scotland on 18 November 1972 at Ravenscraig Stadium, a match which England won 3–2.

Linda Curl is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder or forward for the England women's national football team winning 62 caps and scoring 27 goals. At club level she won the WFA Cup with Lowestoft Ladies in 1982 and also with Norwich in 1986, scoring in both finals.

Liz Deighan is a former association football player, who played for the England national women's football team, as well as clubs including Fodens WFC, Southport WFC, and St Helens W.F.C. She won 49 England caps, making her debut against France on 7 November 1974.

Morag "Maggie" Pearce is a former England women's international footballer. She competed at the 1984 European Competition for Women's Football where England lost against Sweden in the final. She won five Women's FA Cups with Southampton during the 1970's.

Jackie Sherrard is a former English international football midfielder who won forty seven caps for England. She spent most of her career at Doncaster Belles where she won the Women's FA Cup five times.

Lorraine Hunt is an English former international footballer who played as a defender for the Doncaster Belles. She represented the England women's national football team at senior international level and won sixteen caps. Hunt was part of the team at the 1987 European Competition for Women's Football. During her club career she won the Women's FA Cup four times with Doncaster Belles.

Sue Buckett is a former England women's international footballer. She represented England at senior international level and spent most of her career at Southampton Women's F.C. Buckett won the Women's FA Cup eight times between 1971 and 1981 and was the first ever goalkeeper to save a penalty in the competition's final.

St Helens Women's Football Club was a leading women's football club in England. They reached four WFA Cup finals in the 1980's and were victorious in 1980 when they defeated Preston North End 1-0. They dissolved in 2006.

The 1974 WFA Cup Final was the 4th final of the FA Women's Cup, England's primary cup competition for women's football teams. It was the fourth final to be held under the direct control of Women's Football Association (WFA). Southampton Women's F.C. and Fodens Ladies F.C. contested the match at the Eyrie, the former home of Bedford Town on 28 April 1974. Fodens won the match 2–1.

Maureen Martin is a former England women's international footballer and manager of Norwich City Women FC with whom she won the 1986 WFA Cup final.

Linda Coffin is a former England women's international footballer who played as a centre half. Coffin won the Women's FA Cup four times with Southampton Women's F.C.

Vicky Johnson is a former England women's international footballer who won four caps as a defender and scored one goal. Johnson played for Lowestoft Ladies with whom she won the 1982 WFA Cup final. She won the tournament for a second time in the 1986 WFA Cup final with Norwich City Women
