The town's official name is Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe, which distinguishes it from other places named Homburg. The town has become best known for its mineral springs and spa, and for its casino.

Świątek became the first Polish woman in the Open Era to reach the US Open quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. Świątek also became the youngest woman to win three majors since Maria Sharapova in 2008.
