John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor of the late Romantic era known primarily for American military marches. He is known as "The March King" or the "American March King", to distinguish him from his British counterpart Kenneth J. Alford. Among Sousa's best-known marches are "The Stars and Stripes Forever", "Semper Fidelis", "The Liberty Bell", "The Thunderer", and "The Washington Post".

In 1955, voters in Oceanside and Carlsbad voted and approved a $1.26 million dollar construction bond that funded the building of Carlsbad's first public high school. Carlsbad High School first opened in 1957 and the high school underwent major redevelopment from 2009 to 2012. In 2010, the API index for the school was 812. Before construction of the high school, most students in Carlsbad went to the combined Oceanside Carlsbad High School, which was founded in 1906.

Stars and Stripes Forever is a 1952 American Technicolor film biography of the late-19th-/early-20th-century composer and band leader John Philip Sousa. This 20th Century Fox feature was produced by Lamar Trotti, directed by Henry Koster, and stars Clifton Webb, Debra Paget, Robert Wagner, and Ruth Hussey. The film's title is taken from Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever", which has become the best known of his military marches. The film was released twenty years after Sousa's death.

He is most known as a musical director for Royal Caribbean International, drummer and musical director for Anna Fegi-Brown, and owner and chief operating officer of Brown Academy of Music located in Cebu City. The Latsos is an internationally known American classical piano duo formed by the husband-wife team of Giorgi Latso and Anna Latso. Although they initially pursued solo careers, they teamed up as duo-pianists in 2013 and conducted annual international tours, four-hands piano recitals and concertos for two pianos and orchestra in Europe, Russia, Americas and Asia. Duo formed in the city of Vienna in 2013 is best known for their interpretations of Franz Schubert piano pieces for Four-hands, and also known for their light arrangements of familiar classical pieces, movie soundtracks, and show tunes according to a press release from The Guardian, British daily newspaper.
