All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union is the apex students' union body in Arunachal Pradesh, India. [1] [2] It executes, regulates, and maintains all the student body organizations in the state. In the absence of a strong opposition party in the state, it sometimes acts as the opposition to the ruling government. [3]
Elections for the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union are held in various locations, usually district-wise, across the state after each session. The election tenure is for a three-year term. [4] Since 2012, all AAPSU conferences and elections have been held in Itanagar, the capital city.[ citation needed ]
Arunachal Pradesh is a state in northeast India. It was formed from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region, and India declared it as a state on 20 February 1987. Itanagar is its capital and largest town. It borders the Indian states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. Peoples Party of Arunachal is a regional political party in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was founded in September 1977 by Bakin Pertin, Oken Lego and L. Wanglat as president, Vice President and General Secretary of the party. Tomo Riba resigned from PK Thungon government of Congress Party and joined PPA as Vice President of the Party. Currently, Kamen Ringu is the chairman of the party. They were in power in Arunachal until all of their MLAs defected back to Indian National Congress.
The Naga People's Front (NPF) is a regional political party in Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. It headed the Nagaland government with the Bharatiya Janata Party, as part of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland from 2003 to 2018. NPF is coalition partner of N. Biren Singh ministry led BJP government in Manipur. The party ideology includes Conservative Christianity, thus encouraging it. It demands and supports greater autonomy for Naga areas and Naga cultural Nationalism.

Pema Khandu is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Dorjee Khandu. Since assuming the office of the Chief Minister in July 2016, he and his government have twice changed their party affiliation; in September from the Indian National Congress to the Peoples Party of Arunachal, and then in December 2016 to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously he had served as Minister of Tourism, Urban Development and Water Resources in Nabam Tuki's government.

Eken Riba is a former Minister of State for Law, Justice & Cooperation of the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh. He was elected to Basar Constituency in the year 1999–2004. He is also the first person to become a Lawyer from the state of Arunachal Pradesh. He is currently one of 4 State Information Commissioners for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh since January 2014. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Bharat Excellence Award. Though a Law graduate, most of his life has been in public field comprising General Secretary of his school, General Secretary of Students Union, Political Secretary and Minister of State spanning over half a decade. His first steps into public field was in 1966 when he was elected to the post of General Secretary for his School at Aalo when he was in class 10. The following year he was re-elected. Though a bright student all his life, he failed class 12 examination in 1969 due to over engagement into public field. He reappeared the following year and passed the examination. In 1971 he was elected for the post of General Secretary of NEFA Students Union. He was also chosen as the General Secretary for Jawaharlal Nehru College at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. In 1973 the NEFA Students Union ceased to exist and hence he was its last General Secretary. In 1973 he became the President of his college. He passed from JN College in 1973 with B.A. (hons). In 1974-75 he became the first President of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union or AAPSU. From 1975 to 1977 he studied at Delhi University (DU) Jubilee Hall and passed out in llb in Law. He practiced Law at Delhi for several months after which he went to Guwahati High Court to practice the same. He first propagated for the regional political party of Arunachal Pradesh, the People's Party of Arunachal or PPA. Later he joined the national party of India, the Congress Party. In 1999 he was elected to Basar Constituency and became the Minister of State for Law, Justice & Cooperation in the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. In 2009 he was appointed an Advisor to the Chief Minister of Arunachal, the late Dorjee Khandu. Since January 2014, he is one of 4 State Information Commissioners for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The votes were counted and the results were declared on 2 June 2024 the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the election massively with 46 out of 60 seats and Pema Khandu sworn in as Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third time.
