Alonzo Archibald Martell (October 20, 1881 – September 13, 1942) was a real estate agent, insurance broker, notary public and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Richmond-West Cape Breton in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1928 to 1933 as a Liberal member.
A notary public of the common law is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business. A notary's main functions are to administer oaths and affirmations, take affidavits and statutory declarations, witness and authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents, take acknowledgments of deeds and other conveyances, protest notes and bills of exchange, provide notice of foreign drafts, prepare marine or ship's protests in cases of damage, provide exemplifications and notarial copies, and perform certain other official acts depending on the jurisdiction. Any such act is known as a notarization. The term notary public only refers to common-law notaries and should not be confused with civil-law notaries.

The Nova Scotia House of Assembly is one of two components of the General Assembly of Nova Scotia, the other being the Queen of Canada in Right of Nova Scotia represented by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. It is the legislative branch of the provincial government of Nova Scotia, Canada. The assembly is the oldest in Canada, having first sat in 1758, and in 1848 was the site of the first responsible government in the British Empire.
He was born in Mainadieu, Cape Breton Island, the son of Charles A. Martell and Margaret Firby Roberts. In 1919, he married Katherine Weir. Martell was mayor of Louisbourg from 1920 to 1926. He served as deputy clerk for the provincial legislature from 1934 to 1942. Martell also served as United States consul at Sydney, Nova Scotia. He died in Louisbourg at the age of 60.

Sydney is an urban community located in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. Situated on Cape Breton Island's east coast, it belongs administratively to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Sydney was founded in 1785 by the British, was incorporated as a city in 1904, and dissolved on 1 August 1995, when it was amalgamated into the regional municipality.
