Later it was announced that the games will be moved to 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vuokatti previously hosted 2001 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival.

2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival

The 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival will be held in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, between 24 and 30 July 2022. Košice were originally to be host city but withdrew from the hosting in April 2019 due to financial concerns. Banská Bystrica was chosen as the new host city in May 2019. On 7 May 2020 it was announced that the games will be moved to 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Russian Figure Skating Championships was held from 21 to 26 December 2021 in Saint Petersburg. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance.
