Alsco (American Linen & Supply Company [1] ) is an American cleaning, linen, and uniform-rental company. [2] [3] In 2008, Forbes ranked Alsco at #398 on its America's Largest Private Companies list. [4]
In 1888, Alsco's founder, George A. Steiner, began working a laundry delivery route in Lincoln, Nebraska, outside school hours. In 1889, he purchased the business for $50.80. [5] [3] [1] In 1895, the company relocated to Utah. [1] The company was inherited by George's son, Frank, who in turn handed it over to his son Richard after World War II. [1] In 2001, Richard retired and left the business to Kevin and Robert Steiner. [1]
