Amath Yashya (also transliterated Amadh Yahya [1] ) is a Cambodian politician. He belongs to the Sam Rainsy Party and was elected to represent Kampong Cham Province in the National Assembly of Cambodia in 2003. [2] Yahya is an ethnic Cham. [3]
The Chams or Champa people are an Austronesian ethnic group. From the 2nd to the mid-15th century the Chams populated Champa, a contiguous territory of independent principalities in central and southern Vietnam. They spoke the Cham language and the Tsat language, two Chamic languages from the Malayo-Polynesian group of the Austronesian family. Chams and Malays are the only sizable Austronesian peoples that settled in Iron Age mainland Southeast Asia among the more ancient Austroasiatic inhabitants.
Kampong Cham is a province (khaet) of Cambodia located on the central lowlands of the Mekong River. It borders the provinces of Kampong Chhnang to the west, Kampong Thom and Kratié to the north, Tboung Khmum to the east, and Prey Veng and Kandal to the south. Kampong Cham was officially divided into two provinces on 31 December 2013 in what was seen by many as a political move by the ruling party. All land west of the Mekong remained Kampong Cham while land east of the river became Tbong Khmum province. Prior to this division, Kampong Cham extended eastward to the international border with Vietnam, was the eleventh largest province in Cambodia, and with a population of 1,680,694, was the most populous province in Cambodia. Its capital and largest city is Kampong Cham.
Kratié, alternatively Kraches or Kracheh is a province (khaet) of Cambodia located in the northeast. It borders Stung Treng to the north, Mondulkiri to the east, Kampong Thom and Kampong Cham to the west, and Tbong Khmum and Vietnam to the south.
Srey Santhor District is a district (srok) located in Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. The district capital is Srey Santhor town located on the south bank of the Mekong River around midway between Phnom Penh and the provincial capital of Kampong Cham. Srey Santhor is in south western Kampong Cham and lies on the border with Kandal and Prey Veng provinces. It was briefly the capital of Cambodia during the post-Angkor era from 1431 to 1434. During the Middle Period, it was then known as Srey Sarchhor.
Chamkar Leu District is a district (srok) of Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. The district capital is Chamkar Leu town. The town is located at the junction of National Roads 71 and 222 around 48 kilometres (30 mi) north east of the provincial capital at Kampong Cham city. The district is significant producer of rubber, both for domestic consumption and for export. Two large rubber co-operatives, Chamkar Andong Plantation and Chamkar Leu Plantation are located in the district. At 6,000 hectares, the state-owned Chamkar Andong plantation is one of the largest in the country.
Koh Sotin District is a district (srok) located in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. The district capital is Chi Haer town located around 10 kilometres south of the provincial capital of Kampong Cham by water, but some 42 kilometres by road. The district borders on the southern bank of the Mekong River and includes the islands of Koh Sothin and Koh Mitt in its area.
Memot District is a district (srok) in Tboung Khmum Province, Cambodia. The district capital is Memot town, around 80 kilometres (50 mi) east of the provincial capital of Kampong Cham by road. Memot is a border district and the city of Tây Ninh in Vietnam is 80 kilometres (50 mi) away by road.
Krouch Chhmar District is a district (srok) located in Tboung Khmum Province, Cambodia. The district capital is Krouch Chhmar town located around 35 kilometres north east of the provincial capital of Kampong Cham by water. The Mekong River forms western and northern borders of the districts and includes the Mekong island of Koh Pir in its area. Not surprisingly, communities in this isolated district are mostly clustered along the banks of the river and boats are an important form of transport.
Batheay District is a district (srok) of Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. The district capital is Ph'av town. The town is located on National Highway 6 around 64 kilometres east of the provincial capital at Kampong Cham city and 60 kilometres north of the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. The district lies at the junction between two major waterways, the Mekong River and the Tonle Sap.
Math Ly (1925–2004) was a Cambodian politician. A former Khmer Rouge cadre, Math Ly later joined the Cambodian People's Party and was elected to represent Kampong Cham in the National Assembly of Cambodia in 2003.

Cham Prasidh is the Cambodian Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. His Chinese name is 黃裕德虎. Mr Prasidh previously served as a Senior Minister and Minister of Commerce for 15 years. He is a member of the Cambodian People's Party and was elected to represent Siem Reap Province in the National Assembly of Cambodia in 2003.
Kuoy Bunroeun is a Cambodian politician belonging to the Cambodia National Rescue Party representing Kampong Cham Province. He was also a Sam Rainsy Party member representing Takeo Province in the 4th Mandate (2003-2008). He was replaced by Sam Rainsy in 2014 who was barred from running in the election.
Tboung Khmum, also spelled as Tbong Khmum, is a province (khaet) of Cambodia located on the central lowlands of the Mekong River. It borders the provinces of Kampong Cham to the west, Kratié to the north, Prey Veng to the south, and shares an international border with Vietnam to the east. Its capital and largest city is Suong. The province's name consists of two words in Khmer, tboung and khmum (bee), which together mean "amber".
