Amber Midthunder (born April 26, 1997) [2] is an American actress.
She had regular roles in the FX series Legion and The CW series Roswell, New Mexico , and also appeared on Longmire , Banshee , and Reservation Dogs . [3] [4] [5] In 2022, she starred as Naru in Prey , the fifth installment and first prequel of the Predator franchise. [6]
Midthunder's mother Angelique, who is originally from Thailand and of Thai-Chinese ancestry, [7] is a casting director and stunt performer, and her father David is an actor of Hunkpapa Lakota, Sisseton Dakota, and Sahiyaiyeskabi Assiniboine descent; [8] [9] Angelique and David met while working on the 1995 Japanese film East Meets West . [10]
Midthunder is a citizen of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe. [11] [12] [13] She was born on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico, and eventually returned there after spending much of her childhood in Santa Fe where she attended the Academy for Technology and the Classics and where her mother worked in a casting firm. Midthunder developed an interest in acting as a child, where she would memorize and recite lines from her favorite shows, but disliked her first experience in the job, [15] [16] leading her to take some time before another performance, even considering a career in make-up, where she worked as an intern, or mixed martial arts, having trained and taught Brazilian jiu-jitsu. [17] [18]
Her first acting credit was a small role in 2008's Sunshine Cleaning . [14] Midthunder proceeded to work in various productions filmed in New Mexico, before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue more acting opportunities. [17] She starred as Naru in Prey , the fifth installment of the Predator franchise. [6] She was widely praised for her performance. [19]
In 2022, Midthunder received the Breakthrough Performance Award as part of the Saturn Awards, and a Critics' Choice Awards nomination for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, both for her performance in Prey . [20] [21]

Predator is an American science fiction action anthology media franchise centered on a film series depicting humankind's encounters with an intelligent race of extraterrestrial trophy-seeking hunters known as the Yautja. Roswell, New Mexico is an American science fiction drama television series, named after the city of Roswell, New Mexico. Developed by Carina Adly Mackenzie for The CW, it debuted as a midseason entry during the 2018–2019 television season on January 15, 2019. The series is the second television adaptation of the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz following the WB adaptation that ran from 1999 to 2002. In January 2020, The CW renewed the series for a third season which premiered on July 26, 2021. In February 2021, ahead of its third season premiere, the series was renewed for a fourth season which premiered on June 6, 2022. In May 2022, it was announced that the fourth season would be its last. The show ended its run on September 5, 2022.

The 50th Anniversary Saturn Awards, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films and honoring the best in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other genres belonging to genre fiction in film, television, and home entertainment, were held on October 25, 2022, at Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel in Burbank, California, and live-streamed on Electric Entertainment's OTT app and FAST channel ElectricNow. Prey (Original Soundtrack) is the score album to the 2022 film of the same name directed by Dan Trachtenberg, which is the fifth instalment of the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four films. The original score is composed by Sarah Schachner, the fourth composer to score for the franchise. Unlike the previous films, the score does not refer Alan Silvestri's themes from the first film, but featured new original themes created and curated for the film, focusing the principal character Naru (Amber Midthunder) and her emotional story and evolution. Several ancient string instruments have been used in the score, as the film is set during the 18th century America, while the score also featured Pueblo musician and flautist Robert Mirabal.
