American Prayer is an extended play (EP) by American singer-songwriter Tiny Vipers, released in 2022 through LEITER. The EP marks her first release since the 2017 album Laughter . [1] [2]
The EP was recorded over the course of three days in Seattle, with Fortino’s close collaborator Joel Cuplin serving as the studio engineer. The recordings took place at the studio of Fortino’s friend, Ken Jarvey. The EP features only Fortino's acoustic guitar and vocals, staying true to her signature sound. [3]
Fortino reflects on the creation of American Prayer, saying, "I quit my job after the pandemic started lifting and took time to reflect on my life and reassess what’s important to me. These songs are a result of that process of reflection." [3] While Fortino chooses not to explicitly unpack the meanings of the songs, they are deeply personal, featuring cryptic lyrics paired with subtle, intricate guitar work. [3]

The songs "Forever" and "Burn" were staples on MTV2's Headbangers Ball and Revolver Magazine called them part of "The Future of Metal" after hearing the album Vendetta. Initially branded a hardcore punk band, albums like Venom and Tears and Deathless took a sharp turn towards metal, with critics likening the band's sound to that of Pantera and Sepultura. The band are straight edge.
Celebration is an American psychedelic soul band based in Baltimore, Maryland. Formed in 2004 the band is composed of singer Katrina Ford, multi-instrumentalist Sean Antanaitis and drummer David Bergander, with a number of additional rotating members. Laughter is the fourth EP released by Tiny Vipers. It is the first major solo album released by Tiny Vipers in eight years. Laughter was created by Jesy Fortino while she was at the University of Washington studying civil engineering. It is a departure from previous major solo albums in that it relies mostly on synths and keyboards.
