The American Swiss Foundation is a private non-profit foreign policy organization headquartered in New York. It was founded in 1945 [1] "to preserve and strengthen the historic friendship between the United States and Switzerland". [2]

Conference

The main program of the American Swiss Foundation is a Young Leaders Conference, held annually in Switzerland since 1990. Conference alumni now number more than 1,300 leaders in both countries from business, government, the media, and academia. [3] Among notable alumni are Foundation Chairman Robert J. Giuffra, Jr., U.S. Senator John Barrasso, and former North Carolina governor Pat McCrory. [4]

WORLD.MINDS is a non-profit foundation set up in June 2008 by Rolf Dobelli, with the goal of creating "a bridge between the science, business and cultural communities".

A by-election to the Swiss Federal Council was held in Switzerland on 16 September 2009, after incumbent Federal Councillor Pascal Couchepin announced his intention to retire on 31 October 2009.

The Robert Walser Center, which was officially established in Bern, Switzerland, in 2009, is dedicated to Robert Walser and the first patron of Walser’s work and legacy, Carl Seelig. Its purpose is to promulgate Walser’s life and work as well as to facilitate scholarly research. The Center is open to both experts and the general public and includes an extensive archive, a research library, temporary exhibition space, and two rooms with several workstations are also available. The Center furthermore develops and organizes exhibitions, events, conferences, workshops, publications, and special editions. The translation of Robert Walser’s works, which the Center both encourages and supports, also represents a key focus. In order to fully meet its objectives and responsibilities as a center of excellence, it often collaborates on certain projects with local, national, and international partners as well as universities, schools, theaters, museums, archives, translators, editors, and publishers.

Pascale Baeriswyl is a Swiss diplomat, Ambassador and currently Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations (UN) in New York. She was the first woman to hold the post of State Secretary of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and has headed the Swiss Mission to the UN in New York since June 2020. From January 2023 to December 2024, Baeriswyl will represent Switzerland on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), during the country's first ever term as an elected member of the council.
