Amir Tillard (born February 23, 1991 [1] ), better known by his stage name, AmirSaysNothing, is an independent American rapper who was born in New York [2] and now resides in Los Angeles, California. [3] His first project was the Medium Rare EP, which was released on May 19, 2015. He followed that with his first album, Employee of the Month, on September 23, 2016.

Early life

AmirSaysNothing is the oldest of six children and grew up around the East Coast, including New York, DMV and Boston. Amir moved around a lot after his parents got a divorce. [2] His father was a minister for the Nation of Islam in Harlem and a big hip-hop fan, which greatly influenced his art. [4] He decided to call Los Angeles home when he was 18 years old because he wanted to become a professional skateboarder. Although he has now turned to music, he is still sponsored by Supra. [3]

Music career

Amir started rapping in high school and started taking it seriously at the age of 21. He dropped his first project, the Medium Rare EP, on May 19, 2015. [2] His debut album, Employee of the Month, came a little more than a year later when it premiered on Noisey [2] on June 24, 2016 and was released to all other streaming platforms on September 23, 2016.

Among his other musical accomplishments include having two of his songs featured on the Sleight soundtrack, [5] which was released on Lakeshore Records on May 12, 2017. He has strong connections to Rhymesayers Entertainment and earned a writing credit on Evidence's 2018 album, Weather or Not, helping pen "What I Need". [6] Atmosphere's Slug shouted out Amir on the duo's "Ringo" track [7] from the 2016 album Fishing Blues.

iLoveMakonnen American rapper and singer

Makonnen Kamali Sheran, better known by his stage name iLoveMakonnen, is an American rapper and singer. He is best known for his 2014 single "Tuesday", which initially gained recognition following its remix with Canadian rapper Drake. After its release in August of that year, he signed with Drake's record label OVO Sound, an imprint of Warner Records that same month; the song was re-released by the label shortly after and subsequently peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Tuesday" also received a nomination Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, and served as the lead single for his likewise re-issued self-titled debut extended play (2014), which moderately entered the Billboard 200. He parted ways with OVO in 2016, and his following releases have failed to chart.

He later left the label to reinvent his style and changed his name to Amir Obè and found his own collective Neighborhood PHCK$. Obè rose to fame by releasing the mixtape, Detrooklyn in 2014. Matthew Lopez, known professionally as Aston Matthews, is a Guatemalan-American rapper from Los Angeles, California. In 2014, he began to gain recognition following the release of his second mixtape, A$ton 3:16. Matthews is also a part of the Los Angeles hip-hop trio Cutthroat Boyz alongside fellow Californian rappers Vince Staples and Joey Fatts.
