Midwestern State University is a public university in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 2015, it had over 6,000 students. Midwestern is one of four independent public universities in Texas unaffiliated with a state public university system. It is the state's only public institution focused on the liberal arts.
Catherine Leigh Osterman is an American, former collegiate 4-time All-American and 2-time medal winning Olympian, unretired 6-time pro All-Star, left-handed softball pitcher and former softball Assistant Coach originally from Houston, Texas. She completed her college eligibility in 2006 at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a starting pitcher for the Longhorns since 2002. Osterman pitched on the USA Women's Softball Team which won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the silver medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Osterman holds the Big 12 pitching Triple Crown for leading in career wins, ERA, strikeouts, as well as shutouts, no-hitters, WHIP and perfect games, additionally claiming the NCAA Division I record for strikeout ratio (14.34). In the National Pro Fastpitch, Osterman is the career leader in strikeout ratio (10.90) and no-hitters (6). She owns numerous other records for the Longhorns and within the NCAA Division I, where she is also one of five pitchers to strikeout 1,000 batters with 100 wins, an ERA of under 1.00, and averaging double digit strikeouts. Osterman currently is a member of Team USA softball that has qualified for the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics as well as the independent "This is Us" team. In May of 2020, she also signed to join a new softball pro league under Athletes Unlimited that will begin play in August 2020. Osterman was also named #3 Greatest College Softball Player.
Michael Charles Leach is an American college football coach who is currently the head coach at Mississippi State University. He was previously the head coach at Texas Tech University from 2000 to 2009, where he became the winningest coach in school history, and at Washington State University from 2012 to 2019, where he recorded the third-most wins of any coach in school history.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders and Lady Raiders are the athletic teams that represent Texas Tech University, located in Lubbock, Texas. The women's basketball team uses the name Lady Raiders, while the school's other women's teams use the "Red Raiders" name.
Larry Hays is a collegiate baseball, basketball, women's basketball, and softball coach. He served as the head baseball coach at Lubbock Christian University (LCU) (1971–1986) and Texas Tech University (1987–2008). Hays also served as the head coach of the LCU Chaparrals basketball, LCU Lady Chaps basketball (1982–83), LCU Lady Chaps softball (2010), and LCU athletic director (1979–1987).
Alicia Kay Hollowell-Dunn is an American, former collegiate 4-time NCAA Division I All-American, retired right-handed pro softball pitcher and Assistant Coach originally from Suisun, California. She attended Fairfield High School from 1998–2002. She pitched for the Arizona Wildcats from 2003–2006, collecting 144 career wins and 1,768 strikeouts, both top-10 NCAA career records. She currently holds the Arizona Wildcats records for career strikeouts, shutouts and innings pitched, in addition to the Pac-12 Conference wins and strikeout ratio crowns. Hollowell won the 2006 NCAA Softball World Series title. She was drafted #5 overall by the Arizona Heat in the National Pro Fastpitch but went on to play for the Akron Racers in 2007, leading them to the championship series before serving as an alternate for the USA Olympic softball team in 2008. For her collegiate career, Hollowell is one of five NCAA Division I pitchers to win 100 games, strikeout 1,000 batters, with a sub-1.00 ERA and average double digit strikeouts. Hollowell has been named by Tucson, Arizona sportswriters as #6 Best Arizona Wildcat Softball Player; voted by Arizona fans as the #1 Best Pitcher; selected #10 Best Division I Pitcher by the NCAA. Finally she was named a pitcher on the Pac-12 All-Century Team.
The Texas State Bobcats are the sports teams that represent Texas State University. Currently, they compete in the Sun Belt Conference in NCAA Division I. The Bobcat has been the mascot of Texas State University since 1921, when the university adopted the name from the recommendation of a committee formed to raise school spirit. Smaller than mountain lions, bobcats are known for their stubborn fierceness and great courage. The football squad used the bobcat for the first time in 1921 and went undefeated with a 7–0 season. Texas State had several officially recognized live bobcat mascots until the 1970s. In 1964, the Texas State Bobcat was given the official name of "Boko" by Beth Greenlees, a sophomore from Luling, Texas, who beat out about 100 other students in a "Name the Bobcat" contest. Her winning submission earned her a $5 prize and the honor of being the person who named the Texas State mascot. Boko has twice been named “USA National Champion” mascot. Texas State had no official fight song until 1961, when Paul Yoder was commissioned to compose "Go Bobcats." The song is the rousing "call to arms" for all Texas State athletic games and competition.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University in basketball. Texas Tech competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and as a charter member of the Big 12 Conference, since its first season in 1996. The team previously competed in the Border Conference and Southwest Conference. The team was founded in 1925, having since won 12 regular season conference championships, 5 postseason conference championships, and made 17 appearances in the NCAA Tournament as of the 2018–19 season. The Red Raiders have played their home games at the United Supermarkets Arena since 1999 on the university's campus in Lubbock, Texas. Chris Beard, the team's 17th head coach, has led the Red Raiders since the 2016–17 season.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters, commonly abbreviated La. Tech and Dawgs, refer to the sports teams of Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana. The teams compete in Division I of NCAA sports. Since 2013, Louisiana Tech has been a member of Conference USA (C-USA).
Angela Tincher O'Brien is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired pro All-Star, right-handed softball pitcher and softball coach originally from Eagle Rock, Virginia. She was most recently pitching coach at Virginia Tech and was a 2008 first-round draft selection for the NPF Akron Racers. She is a graduate of James River High School and a 2008 graduate of Virginia Tech. In 2013, she was hired as Virginia Tech's softball pitching coach where she owns numerous school records. She is the ACC career leader in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, innings pitched, strikeout ratio and no-hitters, while also ranking in several records for the NCAA Division I, where she is one of five pitchers to achieve 100 wins, 1,000 strikeouts, an ERA under 1.00 and average double-digit strikeouts for her career.
Teresa Wilson is an American, former collegiate right-handed softball pitcher and head coach, originally from Pickering, Missouri. She attended and played for the Missouri Tigers in the defunct Big Eight Conference from 1980-83. For her years of eligibility in the NCAA Division I, she is the career leader in ERA and WHIP for the Tigers, which also rank top-10 in the NCAA. She was a coach for the Carolina Diamonds and Beijing Eagles of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). She had a long coaching career in college softball, most recently as pitching coach for the Arizona Wildcats softball team from 2009 to 2011. Before that, she served as the head coach at Oregon, Minnesota, Washington, and Texas Tech, compiling 839 wins overall, 526 losses,and 1 tie, coaching athletes Heather Tarr, Jennifer Spediacci and Jenny Topping and achieving No. 1 ranking for Washington, as well as two national runner up finishes.
Dan Spencer is a college baseball coach. He currently serves as the head coach for the Linfield College Wildcats. He previously served as head coach at Green River Community College (1992–1996) and Texas Tech University (2009–2012). He also served as the pitching coach for the New Mexico Lobos and associate head coach/pitching coach for the Washington State Cougars.

Taryne Lee Mowatt is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed hitting, retired pro softball pitcher originally from Corona, California. Mowatt is the current pitching coach for Arizona. She played college softball at Arizona and helped them win the 2006 and 2007 Women's College World Series. From 2008 to 2013, Mowatt played professionally in National Pro Fastpitch, selected in the 2008 NPF draft by the Washington Glory. She ranks in several pitching categories for the Wildcats and holds the Women's College World Series records for strikeouts and wins.

The Washington Huskies softball team represents the University of Washington in NCAA Division I college softball competition. A member of the Pac-12 Conference, they play their home games on-campus at Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle, Washington. Through 2020, the Huskies have made 14 appearances at the Women's College World Series and won the national title in 2009.

Renee Luers-Gillispie is an American college softball coach and a former college player. Luers-Gillispie is currently the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes softball team of the University of Iowa.
Kristie Lynn Fox is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed hitting pro softball shortstop and current softball Head Coach, originally from San Diego, California. She attended Mt. Carmel High School and later suited up for the Arizona Wildcats softball team from 2004-07. Fox led the Wildcats to back-to-back Women's College World Series championships in 2006 and 2007. She was selected 5th overall in 2007 NPF Draft and played three season from 2007-2009, winning the first title for the Chicago Bandits team in 2008. Fox served as an assistant softball coach at the University of Arizona, Murray State University, and Texas Tech University, before serving as the head softball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2013 to 2017. Fox was named head softball coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on July 20, 2017.
