Anchal Das is an Indian politician and a veteran leader in the Indian National Congress. He was a Lok Sabha MP from 1996 to 1998,elected from Jaipur (SC). He has been fielded as the Congress candidate from Jajpur in the 2024 Indian general election. He used to be a member of the erstwhile Janata Dal. [1] [2]
The Biju Janata Dal is an Indian regional political party with significant influence in the state of Odisha. It was founded by the former minister of mines and minerals of the Republic of India Naveen Patnaik on 26 December 1997 as a breakaway faction from the Janata Dal. The BJD is led by its founder as president of the party. The headquarters of the party is located in Forest Park,Bhubaneswar.
Naveen Patnaik is an Indian statesman,politician and writer serving as the current and 15th Chief Minister of Odisha representing the Hinjili Assembly constituency since 2000. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2024,the 2nd longest-serving chief minister of any Indian state,holding the post for over two decades,and only the second Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state. He is the first president of the Biju Janata Dal since 1997. He served as the Union Minister of Steel and Mines from 1998 to 2000 and a member of the Lok Sabha from Aska from 1997 to 2000.
Mohan Jena was an Indian politician who was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha. He represented the Jajpur Constituency of Odisha and was a member of the Biju Janata Dal political party. In March 2019,he joined Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of Dharmendra Pradhan and Arun Singh.
Bhartruhari Mahtab is an Indian politician,the son of Late Shri Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab. He was a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) political party,and resigned from the BJD to join BJP on 28th March,2024. He was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 from Cuttack constituency in Odisha. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1999,2004,2009,2014 and 2019 from the same constituency.
