Jasper Johns is an American painter, sculptor, draftsman, and printmaker. Considered a central figure in the development of American postwar art, he has been variously associated with abstract expressionism, Neo-Dada, and pop art movements.
In visual art, mixed media describes artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Assemblages, collages, and sculpture are three common examples of art using different media. Materials used to create mixed media art include, but are not limited to, paint, cloth, paper, wood and found objects.
Elizabeth Griscom Ross, also known by her second and third married names, Ashburn and Claypoole, was an American upholsterer who was credited by her relatives in 1870 with making the second official U.S. flag, accordingly known as the Betsy Ross flag. Though most historians dismiss the story, Ross family tradition holds that General George Washington, commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and two members of a congressional committee—Robert Morris and George Ross—visited Mrs. Ross in 1776. Mrs. Ross convinced George Washington to change the shape of the stars in a sketch of a flag he showed her from six-pointed to five-pointed by demonstrating that it was easier and speedier to cut the latter. However, there is no archival evidence or other recorded verbal tradition to substantiate this story of the first U.S. flag. It appears that the story first surfaced in the writings of her grandson in the 1870s, with no mention or documentation in earlier decades.

Operation Prime Chance was a United States Special Operations Command operation intended to protect U.S.-flagged oil tankers from Iranian attack during the Iran–Iraq War. The operation took place roughly at the same time as Operation Earnest Will, the largely naval effort to escort the tankers through the Persian Gulf. The operation was begun after the mining of the U.S.-flagged Kuwaiti oil tanker Bridgeton.

Earnest Lee Ross Jr. is an American professional basketball player who last played for Toyoda Gosei Scorpions of the Japanese B.League. Born in the U.S. territory of Guam, he represented the Guam national team for the first time in 2018. He played college basketball for Auburn and Missouri before beginning his professional career in Australia in 2014. He played half a season with the Perth Wildcats before an Achilles injury ended his rookie year. He continued on in Australia in 2016 with the Ballarat Miners. He then played in Denmark, New Zealand and Qatar before returning to Australia to play for the Geraldton Buccaneers in 2018. In 2019, he helped the Joondalup Wolves reach the SBL Grand Final. He later had a stint in the NBA G League for the South Bay Lakers.

NGC 741, also known as PGC 7252, is a formerly active radio galaxy in the constellation of Pisces. Located 74.13 Mpc away, NGC 741 is part of a group of galaxies including NGC 742 and PGC 7250. NGC 741 and NGC 742 recently collided, although the disruption was minor. Radio filaments have been found connecting NGC 741 to NGC 742, and due to the bent structure of the radio filaments, NGC 741 is estimated to be moving at 1400 km/s with respect to its local group, suggesting that ram-pressure stripping was created as a product of the former merger.
