Angel Acevedo (born July 26, 1982) is an American filmmaker.

Biography

Acevedo attended Hofstra University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in film studies and production and won Best Screenplay for his thesis film Cheesecake. While at Hofstra, he met Brian Amyot and Steven Tsapelas, and in 2004 they formed Ragtag Productions.

Acevedo is one of the driving forces behind We Need Girlfriends series, filming most of the scenes and the character of Rod is loosely based on him. [1]

Cinema of Colombia refers to the film industry based in Colombia. Colombian cinema began in 1897 and has included silent films, animated films and internationally acclaimed films. Government support included an effort in the 1970s to develop the state-owned Cinematographic Development Company which helped produce some films yet struggled to stay financially viable. FOCINE went defunct in 1993. In 1997 the Colombian Congress approved Law 397 of Article 46 or the General Law of Culture with the purpose of supporting the development of the Colombian film industry by creating a film promotion mixed fund called Corporación PROIMAGENES en Movimiento. Ángel Acevedo is a Puerto Rican retired professional wrestler known by his ring name The Cuban Assassin and for his appearances with Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, World Wrestling Council and Stampede Wrestling. Ángel Acevedo is a permanent resident of Canada and resides in Calgary, Alberta. Acevedo's son, Richie Acevedo, was also a wrestler for many years but retired in 2009. Acevedo allowed Fidel Sierra to use the Cuban Assassin name as well, as long as he did not use it in Japan, which has led to some mistakenly crediting Acevedo and Sierra with championships they did not win.

The company entered into discussions with CBS about turning We Need Girlfriends into a television series pilot with Sex and the City creator Darren Star. After premiering the first episode in August 2010 at The Feel Good Film Festival founded by Kristen Ridgway Flores, their newest project My Future Girlfriend debuted online on April 1, 2011.
