Angela Chan (born January 21, 1967; also known as Angela Chew) is an American fashion designer [1] who is currently the President of Chargeurs' PCC Technologies. [2] [3] Chan is known for founding Mommy Chic Maternity [3] and the International Design & Trade company. [4] [5] As an advocate of sustainability, she has also founded the Sustainable 50 Initiative.

Early life and education

Chan graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. [1]

Career

In 1998, Chan founded Mommy Chic Maternity, the maternity and children's [SY1] brand that was utilized by celebrities such as Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. [8] Mommy Chic Maternity was mentioned in the book Invisible Eden: A Story of Love and Murder on Cape Cod by Maria Flook. [9] [10]

Chan worked as a manager at Macy's from 1989-1994. From 1995-2007, she worked in womenswear, menswear, and childrenswear for Calvin Klein, The Limited, Elie Tahari and Victoria's Secret, Rocawear, Gerson Lehrman Group, and many other companies. [1] [2] She worked at Destination XL Group from 2009-2018. [1] [11] [12]

In 2018, Chan became the Global President of Chargeurs. [2] At Chargeurs, she has initiated fashion school partnerships with FIT [13] and Parsons School of Design, [14] [15] founded Chargeurs Foundation in 2018, [16] and founded the Sustainable 50 initiative. [17] She founded Lainiere Health & Wellness, USA in 2020. [18]

Awards and recognition

She was the winner of the Fresh Face Designer award from Women’s Wear Daily in 2002. [19]

In January 2017, she was recognized as a Top Women in Retail Tech. [20]

In 2020, she was named one of the Most Influential DealMakeHers [21] and awarded The Women of Inspiration Award by Delivering Good. [22] [23] [24]

Ports is an international luxury fashion house founded by Japanese Canadian fashion designer Luke Tanabe (1920–2009) in Toronto in 1961. Acquired by Chinese Canadian brothers Alfred Chan and Edward Tan in 1989, Ports expanded into the Chinese market in the early 1990s where its parent company — which traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from 2003 to 2018 and has since been privatized — now operates more than 300 retail stores. DL1961 is a global premium denim brand that is carried in hundreds of stores. The brand was founded in 2008 using XFIT LYCRA, a fabric it has patented. XFIT is a cotton-wrapped Lycra thread intertwined with polyester made by DL parent company ADM Denim, which was founded by Faisal and Meliha Ahmed. The company uses an eco-friendly manufacturing process that it introduced in 2013 to use less water, waste, and dye. The brand has a maternity line.
