Angus Lane

Angus Thomas Lane OAM is an Australian ring announcer. [1] [2]

Lane has been the ring announcer at many major agricultural shows in Australia including the Royal Queensland Show (more commonly known as "The Ekka"), Sydney Royal Easter Show, Perth Royal Show, Royal Darwin Show and the Royal Toowoomba Show. [2] [3]

He has also served as a ring announcer at many smaller agricultural shows across Queensland, commencing his career at the Jandowae Show. [4]

After working as the ring announcer at Rockhampton's Beef Australia in 1991, Lane became the Chief Ring Announcer at The Ekka in 1992. [4] He served in that role until 2008 before stepping down from the position for a number of years before returning in 2014. [5]

Recognition

Lane was named as Queensland Father of the Year in 2002. [6]

In 2012, Lane was awarded the Friendship and Fellowship Award from the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Society. [7]

Lane received the Minister's Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Rural Communities for Services to rural and regional Queensland from Henry Palaszczuk. [6]

Lane was named in the 2013 Queen's Birthday Honours and awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of his services to agricultural shows. [8]

On Queensland Day in 2020, Lane was named as a Queensland Great for his services as an announcer and to agriculture. [3] [9]

Ekka

The Ekka is the annual agricultural show of Queensland, Australia. Its formal title is the Royal Queensland Show, and it is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. It was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, but it is more commonly known as the "Ekka", short for "exhibition". It is run by The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA).

Brisbane Showgrounds is located at 600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and was established in 1875. It hosts more than 250 events each year, with the largest being the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka).

Annastacia Palaszczuk 39th Premier of Queensland

Annastacia Palaszczuk is an Australian politician who has been the 39th premier of Queensland since 2015 and the leader of the Queensland branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) since 2012. She was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for the district of Inala at the 2006 election.

Mark Lionel Furner is an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of Australian Senate from 2008 to 2014, representing the state of Queensland. Since the 2015 Queensland state election, he has represented Ferny Grove in the Queensland Legislative Assembly.

Cameron Dick Australian politician (b.1967)

Cameron Robert Dick is an Australian politician and member of the Labor Party currently serving as the 51st Treasurer of Queensland. He previously served as Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning and was Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services in the Palaszczuk Ministry. He also served as Attorney-General, Minister for Education and Minister for Industrial Relations in the Bligh government. He is currently a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Woodridge.

Jacklyn Anne Trad is a former Australian politician. She was Deputy Premier of Queensland from 2015 to 2020, Treasurer of Queensland from 2017 to 2020 and represented the Electoral district of South Brisbane for the Labor Party from April 2012 to October 2020.

George Wallace Donald Crosby, OAM was an Australian actor of radio, stage, television and film, radio producer, stage manager, airman and trade unionist, the fifth child of actor Joseph Alexander (Marshall) Crosby and Theresa Crosby. He was named after his father's friend, the actor and comedian George Stevenson Wallace. At the age of one, he was taken on stage by his father in a production of the operetta His Royal Highness. The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) is an organisation which aims to promote and encourage the development of agricultural, industrial, manufacturing and cultural resources of Queensland, Australia. The RNA owns and operates the Brisbane Exhibition Ground, situated 1.6 kilometres from the Brisbane central business district.

2017 Queensland state election

The 2017 Queensland state election was held on 25 November 2017 to elect all 93 members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, the unicameral Parliament of Queensland.

The First Palaszczuk Ministry was a ministry of the Government of Queensland led by Annastacia Palaszczuk. Palaszczuk led the Labor Party to victory in the 2015 state election, forming a minority government with the support of independent MP Peter Wellington. Her interim ministry was sworn in on 14 February 2015 by Governor Paul de Jersey. The full Palaszczuk Ministry was sworn in two days later. Several changes were made to the ministry on 8 December 2015, with 3 cabinet positions and one assistant ministry added.

2020 Queensland state election

The 2020 Queensland state election was held on 31 October to elect all 93 members to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The Labor Party was returned to government for a third-term, led by incumbent premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. With 47 seats needed to form a majority government, Labor won 52 seats, including all but five in Brisbane, while the Liberal National Party won 34 seats and formed opposition. On the crossbench, Katter's Australian Party retained its 3 seats, the Queensland Greens picked up South Brisbane for a total of 2, Pauline Hanson's One Nation retained Mirani and independent Sandy Bolton retained her seat of Noosa.

Gail Ker

Gail Kathleen Ker OAM was the chief executive officer of Access Community Services Ltd in Queensland, Australia until December 2021. In 2018, she was named as one of the Queensland Greats by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in a ceremony at the Queensland Art Gallery on 8 June 2018.
