Anil Mathur (born 8 November 1951) is an Indian former cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Delhi, Railways and Uttar Pradesh between 1970 and 1986. [1] [2]
Anil Kumble is an Indian former cricket player, coach and commentator who played Test and One Day International cricket for his national team over an international career of 18 years. Widely regarded as one of the best leg spinners and one of the greatest bowlers in Test Cricket History, he took 619 wickets in Test cricket and was the third highest wicket taker of all time at the time of his retirement in 2008. In 1999 while playing against Pakistan, Kumble dismissed all ten batsmen in a Test match innings, joining England's Jim Laker as the second player to achieve the feat. Unlike his contemporaries, Kumble was not a big turner of the ball, but relied primarily on pace, bounce, and accuracy. He was nicknamed "Apple" and "Jumbo". Kumble was selected as the Cricketer of the Year in 1993 Indian Cricket, and one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year three years later. Kumble was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which the title was also shared with Sri Lanka.
Javagal Srinath is a former Indian cricketer and currently an ICC match referee. He is considered among India's finest fast bowlers, and was the first Indian bowler to take more than 300 wickets in One Day Internationals. With India, Srinath was a member of the Indian team that was the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, a title they shared with Sri Lanka, and was a member of the team that were runners-up in the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
Bishan Singh Bedi was an Indian cricketer who was primarily a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979 and formed part of the famous Indian spin quartet. He played a total of 67 Tests and took 266 wickets. He also captained the national side in 22 Test matches. Bedi wore a colourful patka and was always known for his outspoken and forthright views on cricketing matters. He was awarded the Padma Shri award in 1970 and the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium is a cricket stadium owned and operated by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) and located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. It was established in 1883 as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, and named after the nearby Kotla fort. It is the second oldest functional international cricket stadium in India, after the Eden Gardens of Kolkata. As of 25 October 2019, it has hosted 36 Tests, 29 ODIs and 6 T20I.
Manoj Prabhakar is a former Indian cricketer and coach, who recently coached Nepal National Cricket Team. He was a right-arm medium-pace bowler and a lower-order batsman, and also opened the innings a few times for the Indian cricket team. Ravichandran Ashwin, known as Ravi Ashwin, is a former Indian international cricketer. He played as a right-arm off spin bowler and a handy lower order batsman. He represented the national team and was a part of the team that won the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy, where in the 2013 final, he bowled the match-winning over. He plays for Tamil Nadu and South Zone in domestic cricket and for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. On 18 December 2024, he announced retirement from all formats of international cricket.
Gautam Gambhir is an Indian former international cricketer, former politician, a philanthropist, and the current head coach of the Indian cricket team in all formats. He played for India in all formats of the game between 2003 and 2016, became the first Indian batsman to secure place in the ICC Rankings of Top 10 Batsman in all three formats. He was a member of the 17th Lok Sabha from 2019 to 2024. He received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2019, the fourth highest civilian award in India.
Arani Velayudham Jayaprakash is an Indian former first-class cricketer and Test cricket umpire.
Kagiso Rabada is a South African international cricketer who plays all formats of the game. He is a right arm fast bowler. He made his international debut in November 2014 in limited-overs cricket before going on to make his Test debut in November 2015. By January 2018, he had topped both the ICC ODI bowler rankings and the ICC Test bowler rankings aged 22. In July 2018, he became the youngest bowler to take 150 wickets in Tests.
