The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York is the intermediate appellate court in New York State. The state is geographically divided into four judicial departments of the Appellate Division. The full title of each is,using the "Fourth Department" as an example,the "Supreme Court of the State of New York,Appellate Division,Fourth Judicial Department".

He was one of the first specialized business court judges in New York City and the United States. He oversaw thousands of cases,including numerous high-profile cases.
Eileen Bransten was an American judge who served in New York's state courts for nearly 25 years,including from 2008 to 2018 in Manhattan's Commercial Division,its specialized business court. She was the daughter of author Ruth McKenney and writer and editor Richard Bransten.
