Animism is a Canadian animated television series that airs on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network's APTN Kids block. Animated for APTN by Zeroes 2 Heroes, the series mixes First Nations mythology with urban fantasy concepts.

Contents

Development began in 2010. An alternate reality game titled Animism: The Sacred Sites debuted that year. The six-episode first season, Animism: The Gods' Lake, aired in 2013. [1] [2] A second season, Animism: Titan Falls, is in development.

Background

It began as a developing alternate reality game in summer 2010 titled Animism: The Gods' Lake to promote the upcoming TV series still in development for APTN. [3] It had an active site by autumn 2010 where the project was retitled Animism: The Sacred Sites. [4] The ARG finally launched 1 January 2013 a few weeks before the show. [5]

Setting

The story begins in Grind City with environmental activists from Grind City University [6] engaging in eco-terrorism against Grind City Futures, a local developer.

Duane is put in a trance by Wetiko when he answers his cellphone. Erin gets in a hacking war with a boy Chad hires to hijack her site. Nico makes out with Zone. Tokala is stopped by the Mother when she tries to attack Erin. Junior is disturbed as Chad "levels up" by killing and eating the geezers of the corporation board, as they won't get with the times and appreciate the impact the Internet has on shaping young minds. In the wild a giant groundhog and mammoth are encountered.

Season 2

It is under development [21] and was titled Animism: Titan Falls in 2014. [22] The title resembles a preceding journal entry left by Declan Grey. [23]

The Aboriginal Peoples Television Network has hosted it since 2013. [1]

Funding

This was provided by the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund (aka Bell Fund) along with British Columbia Film + Media, the British Columbia Film Incentive and Canada Media Fund, as well as the above-mentioned Shaw Rocket Fund.

This was online since 2012. [24]

Part of it involved asking questions at a forum called Electric Antler, and getting news updates via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube

Official stories

The official Animism website's homepage features a guide to several stories from notable authors titled "The Book of the Emissaries". These canonical stories were composed during a fiction contest launched in 2012 [25] and then some of them were endorsed as part of the lore. The java pages display an initial portion of the story with an illustration that links to the story's entirety on its own page. These tales include:

  3. "Heart of Ice" by Elizabeth Aileen Dillon [28] whose forenames are stylized "Beth Aieleen" as an Animism scribe [29]
    • Dillon's other story "Trickster Faces a Wetiko" [30] is considered part of the Canon but is not part of the Book of Emissaries.
  4. "The First Farmer of Papua New Guinea" by David Ray [31]
    • Ray's other story "The Last Words of Antonius Pius" [32] is also considered canon but is not part of the Book of Emissaries.
  5. "The Ladder Trick" by Nick Mamatas [33] (Animism scribe [34] )
  6. "Rise of Man" by Sam Chandola [35] (Book of the Emissaries calls this "The Rise of Man" by ssp1989)

Grey DeLisle, sometimes credited as Grey Griffin, is an American voice actress and singer-songwriter. DeLisle is known for various roles in animated productions and video games. On September 27, 2018, she released her debut comedy act, titled "My First Comedy Special". On November 10, 2019, The Simpsons producers announced that DeLisle would replace Russi Taylor as the voice of Martin Prince and Sherri and Terri, after Taylor's death in July 2019. In 2022, she was nominated for the Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program for her work on The Loud House.

Maximilian Michael Brooks is an American author. He is the son of comedian Mel Brooks and actress Anne Bancroft. Much of Brooks's writing focuses on zombie stories. He was a senior fellow at the Modern War Institute at West Point, New York.

Charles Davis Lowe II is an American actor and director. He is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe. He won an Emmy Award for his supporting role in Life Goes On as a young man living with HIV. He has had recurring roles on ER, Melrose Place, and Now and Again. Lowe played Deputy White House Chief of Staff Reed Pollock on the sixth season of 24, and played Byron Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars.

This Week in Baseball was an American television series that focused on Major League Baseball highlights. Broadcast weekly during baseball season the program featured highlights of recent games, interviews with players, and other regular features. The popularity of the program, best known for its original host, New York Yankees play-by-play commentator Mel Allen, also helped influence the creation of other sports highlight programs, including ESPN's SportsCenter.

<i>Supernatural</i> season 5 Season of television series

The fifth season of Supernatural, an American dark fantasy television series created by Eric Kripke, premiered September 10, 2009, and concluded on May 13, 2010, on The CW. Season five regular cast members include Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins, who was promoted to series regular this season. After the conclusion of this season, Kripke stepped down as showrunner. The fifth season was released on DVD and Blu-ray in region 1 on September 7, 2010. Guardians Evolution is a stop-motion animated TV series that broadcasts as part of APTN Kids on Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. It is broadcast in both Cree and English. It is directed by Dennis Jackson and co-created with Melanie Jackson. They and Eric Jackson wrote the first six episodes, two each, which composed season 1, whose 6 episodes ran in 2014.

<i>Trickster</i> (Japanese TV series) Japanese anime television series

Trickster, full title known as Trickster: From Edogawa Ranpo's "The Boy Detectives Club", is a 2016 Japanese anime television series produced by TMS Entertainment and Shin-Ei Animation. It is directed by Masahiro Mukai and written by Erika Yoshida, with original character designs by Peach-Pit, adapted character designs by Shinya Yamada and music by Yuki Hayashi. It began airing on October 4, 2016, on Tokyo MX and Yomiuri TV. A manga adaptation of the anime by Mantohihi Binta began its serialization on June 20, 2016. A prequel original video animation split into two parts, titled "Episode 00", was released on December 22, 2016.

Talking Tom & Friends is an animated sitcom and children's television series by Slovenian company Outfit7, based on the media franchise of the same name. Its premiere release was on 23 December 2014 on YouTube, with the final episode being released on 24 December 2021. The first three seasons of the show were produced by the Austrian company ARX Anima, while seasons 4 and 5 were produced by the Spanish animation studio People Moving Pixels.
