Anita Judd-Jenkins is an American politician. She served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives for the 80th district from 2017 to 2019.
Judd-Jenkins graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University). She worked in sales and marketing before joining politics. She is married to Ronnie D. Jenkins and they have one son. [1] [2]
Judd-Jenkins was first elected to the Kansas House of Representatives for the 80th district in the 2016 state legislative elections. She defeated representative Kasha Kelley in the Republican primary with 52.7% of the vote and she won the general election against Democrat Michelle Schiltz with 68.7% of the vote. [3] [4] Judd-Jenkins described herself as a "fiscally conservative,moderate Republican",who won the election with aims of expanding Medicaid and solving the state's financial issues. [5] [6] She was appointed to the general government budget committee,the children and seniors committee and the social services budget committee. [7]
In June 2017,she joined a group of seven House Republicans who voted to override Governor Sam Brownback's veto of SB 30,passing into law a repeal of the governor's 2012 tax policy. [8] She was unseated by Bill Rhiley in the 2018 Republican primary,receiving 41.9% of the vote. [9] [10]
Samuel Dale Brownback is an American attorney,politician,diplomat,and member of the Republican Party who served as the United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom from 2018 to 2021. Brownback previously served as the Secretary of Agriculture of Kansas (1986–1993),as the U.S. representative for Kansas's 2nd congressional district (1995–1996),as a United States senator from Kansas (1996–2011) and the 46th governor of Kansas (2011–2018). He also ran for the Republican nomination for President in 2008.

Derek Larkin Schmidt is an American lawyer and politician who served as the Kansas Attorney General from 2011 to 2023. A Republican,Schmidt was first elected to office serving in the Kansas Senate,where he represented the 15th district from 2001 to 2011,and served as Agriculture Committee chairman and Senate majority leader. Schmidt became the state attorney general in 2011,after he defeated incumbent Democrat Stephen Six in the November 2010 elections and joined other Republican states' attorneys general in suing to block many Obama administration policies. In 2020,after Republican President Donald Trump was defeated by Joe Biden but refused to acknowledge defeat,Schmidt joined a failed legal effort to overturn the election results.

The Kansas experiment refers to Kansas Senate Bill Substitute HB 2117,a bill signed into law in May 2012 by Kansas state Governor Sam Brownback,and its impact on Kansas. It was one of the largest income tax cuts in the state's history. The Kansas experiment has also been called the "Great Kansas Tax Cut Experiment",the "Red-state experiment","the tax experiment in Kansas",and "one of the cleanest experiments for how tax cuts affect economic growth in the U.S." The cuts were based on model legislation published by the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC),supported by supply-side economist Arthur Laffer,and anti-tax leader Grover Norquist. The law cut taxes by US$231 million in its first year,and cuts were projected to total US$934 million annually after six years,by eliminating taxes on business income for the owners of almost 200,000 businesses and cutting individual income tax rates.
