Anja Rupel (born 19 March 1966) is a Slovene pop singer, songwriter, radio announcer, and journalist. Her father, Fedja Rupel, is a flautist and a professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and her uncle is the politician and diplomat Dimitrij Rupel.
Rupel has been involved in music since childhood. She played the flute for over ten years. In 1982, she began to perform as lead vocalist with the prominent synthpop group Videosex, which became very popular in the former Yugoslavia. The group recorded four albums. Their debut album, Videosex 84 appeared in 1983 and they played with bands such as Ekatarina Velika and Otroci Socializma in Belgrade. The group broke up in 1992.
Rupel then went on to her solo career and, in 1994 she recorded her first album Odpri oči (Open Your Eyes). For a while, she performed with the internationally prominent industrial/techno group Laibach from Trbovlje, Slovenia. In 1988, she sang The Beatles' anthem, Across the Universe and was the first Slovene to be featured on MTV. She is now[when?] recording new album in cooperation with the Slovene musician Rudi Štigel.
She also performed in the 1987 film Hudodelci (The Felons) directed by Franci Slak, and in several other films.
On 11 October 2002, she gave birth to a daughter named Luna. She is with a musician and singer Aleš Klinar who was a leader of a folk-pop group Agropop.

Laibach is a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with the industrial, martial, and neo-classical genres. Formed in the mining town of Trbovlje in 1980, Laibach represents the musical wing of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) collective, a group which Laibach helped found in 1984. "Laibach" is the German historical name for the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, itself an oblique reference to the Nazi occupation of Slovenia in World War II.

Let It Be is a cover album by the Slovenian avant-garde group Laibach. It was released in 1988 and is a cover of the Beatles' 1970 album Let It Be. It was recorded in Laibach style with military rhythms and choirs, although a few tracks deviate from this formula, most notably "Across the Universe" featuring Anja Rupel of Videosex. The title track is omitted and "Maggie Mae" is replaced by the German folk song "Auf der Lüneburger Heide" in combination with "Was gleicht wohl auf Erden". "For You Blue" begins with Moondog's "Crescent Moon March", which is subsequently used as a counter-melody. "One After 909" includes a small portion of "Smoke on the Water", originally written and recorded by the band Deep Purple.

She was one of the most recognizable figures on the music scene in former Yugoslavia, and is renowned for her wide vocal range and operatic style. She also had a successful career in France. She has held many concerts around the world, being one of the few Yugoslav musicians to have sold out shows in The Royal Albert Hall, L'Olympia and Carnegie Hall.
Nuša Derenda is a Slovenian singer who represented Slovenia at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark where she achieved 7th place.
Todor "Toše" Proeski was a Macedonian multi-genre singer and songwriter. Considered a top act of the local Macedonian and Balkan music scene, Proeski's music was popular across multitude of countries of Southeast Europe. He was dubbed the "Elvis Presley of the Balkans" by BBC News. He died in a car crash on the Zagreb–Lipovac A3 highway, near Nova Gradiška in Croatia, on the morning of 16 October 2007, aged 26.

Musically, they are best described as an aggressive and artistic rhythmic explosion, experimenting and seeking out new expressiveness while finding inspiration in the traditions of punk rock, funk, jazz fusion, motown, jungle, drum and bass, and the works of Jimi Hendrix.
"For Your Eyes Only" is the theme to the 12th James Bond movie of the same name, written by Bill Conti and Mick Leeson, and performed by Scottish singer Sheena Easton. The song reached number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number eight on the UK Singles Chart. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards in 1982.
Popular music in Yugoslavia includes the pop and rock music of the former SFR Yugoslavia, including all their genres and subgenres. The scene included the constituent republics: SR Slovenia, SR Croatia, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SR Montenegro, SR Macedonia and SR Serbia and its subunits: SAP Vojvodina and SAP Kosovo. "The Earth is Dancing" is a 1962 pop song, music of which was written by Mojmir Sepe based on a lyrics by Slovene poet Gregor Strniša that was awarded at the first edition of the Slovenian song festival where it was sung by a notable singer Marijana Držaj. The song became an evergreen, a popular and enduring example of Slovenian popular music. It has been since then released in a number of re-mixes. It also inspired one of the first musical videospots made in 1980s in Slovenia, at the time part of Yugoslavia, where both the videospot and the song were also popular.
