The Ann Arbor Business Review is a weekly business journal published in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The publication, formerly distributed in a tab format but now primarily on-line, covers business news in the Washtenaw County and Livingston County areas.
The publication started as Business Direct Weekly in January 2003 and became Business Review Washtenaw/Livingston in late 2004. It changed names again in 2005, becoming the Ann Arbor Business Review.
Owned by Advance Publications, it has the same parent company as The Ann Arbor News , a daily newspaper. The two publications share a publisher but are editorially independent. The Ann Arbor Business Review drew attention in 2005 when it became the first publication to report that Google was making plans to move its AdWords headquarters to Ann Arbor.
The business journal is part of the Michigan Business Review network, which also includes the Novi-based Oakland Business Review and the Kalamazoo-based Western Michigan Business Review . Following the folding of the Ann Arbor News in July 2009 as a daily printed paper, the Ann Arbor Business Review ceased its regular printed offering on August 13 and joined the News as a primarily on-line publication, sharing the AnnArbor.com website and appearing in the AnnArbor.com print edition each Sunday. It is the principal city of the Ann Arbor Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Washtenaw County. Ann Arbor is also included in the larger Greater Detroit Combined Statistical Area.

Livingston County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 180,967. The 2019 population estimate was 191,995, according to the United States Census Bureau. It is part of the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat and most populous city is Howell. The county was platted in 1833, but for three years remained assigned to Shiawassee and Washtenaw counties for revenue, taxation and judicial matters. It was formally organized in 1836. As one of Michigan's "Cabinet counties", a group of ten counties whose names honor members of President Andrew Jackson's Cabinet, it is named after former US Secretary of State Edward Livingston. Livingston County's location in Southeast Michigan offers residents relatively convenient access to the metropolitan centers of Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Flint. Livingston County residents regularly commute to those centers, using the three major expressways which pass through the county: I-96, US 23, and M-59. Although continuing to be composed largely of bedroom communities, the county is experiencing and maintaining significant growth in both the service and industrial economic sectors. Major employers include Tribar, PepsiCo, Citizens Insurance, and ThaiSummit. The Brighton Recreation Area is in the county.
The Detroit Free Press is the largest daily newspaper in Detroit, Michigan, US. The Sunday edition is titled the Sunday Free Press. It is sometimes referred to as the Freep. It primarily serves Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Washtenaw, and Monroe counties.
The Michigan Daily is the daily student newspaper of the University of Michigan. Its first edition was published on September 29, 1890. The newspaper is financially and editorially independent of the University's administration and other student groups, but shares a university building with other student publications on 420 Maynard Street, north of the Michigan Union and Huetwell Student Activities Center. In 2007, renovations to the historic building at 420 Maynard were completed, funded entirely by private donations from alumni. To dedicate the renovated building, a reunion of the staffs of The Michigan Daily, the Michiganensian yearbook, and the Gargoyle humor magazine was held on October 26–28, 2007.
M-17 is a 6.390-mile-long (10.284 km) state trunkline highway in the U.S. state of Michigan, connecting the cities of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor in Washtenaw County. It was once part of a highway that spanned the southern Lower Peninsula of Michigan before the creation of the U.S. Highway System in 1926. The designation once extended into downtown Detroit, but the eastern terminus was progressively scaled back in the late 1960s to the current location in Ypsilanti. The changes made to the highways in Washtenaw County spawned Business M-17, a business loop for 11 years between 1945 and 1956.
Southeast Michigan, also called Southeastern Michigan, is a region in the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan that is home to a majority of the state's businesses and industries as well as slightly over half of the state's population, most of whom are concentrated in Metro Detroit.
Booth Newspapers, or Booth Michigan, was a media company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Booth owned eight newspapers in the state of Michigan. Founded by George Gough Booth with his two brothers, Booth Newspapers was sold to Advance Publications, which purchased it in 1976 for $305 million, a record at the time.
As the world's traditional automotive center, Detroit, Michigan, is an important source for business news. The Detroit media are active in the community through such efforts as the Detroit Free Press high school journalism program and the Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit. The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus is a daily newspaper published in Howell, Michigan and owned by Gannett. It covers news and sports within Livingston County and had offices in both Howell and Brighton. The Brighton office closed in December 2008. Its printing facility is located in Howell Township. It publishes every day, except Saturday.
The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) is a public library system that serves the residents of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Downtown Library, located at 343 South Fifth Avenue, was dedicated in 1957 and had building additions in 1974 and 1991. AADL also includes four branch libraries: Malletts Creek, Traverwood, Pittsfield and Westgate. The library system holds over 490,000 materials – books, DVDs, compact discs, magazines, audio books and other formats. More than 1.5 million people came through the doors of the AADL system in 2011–12, and circulation of library materials topped 8.5 million. In 1997, the Library was named “National Library of the Year” by Library Journal, the first library in Michigan to receive the honor.
WALLY was a commuter rail service proposed in 2008 which would have linked the Michigan cities of Ann Arbor and Howell. It never got past the planning stages.
AnnArbor.com was an online newspaper that covered local news of Ann Arbor, Michigan and the surrounding Washtenaw County, Michigan. In 2013 AnnArbor.com was transitioned to MLive.com along with Advance Publications other Michigan newspapers and renamed The Ann Arbor News.
The Border-to-Border (B2B) Trail is a partially constructed non-motorized trail in Washtenaw County, Michigan. The trail is planned to cover approximately 35 miles (56 km) from Livingston County to Wayne County along the Huron River.
Ypsilanti, commonly shortened to Ypsi, is a city in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan, perhaps best known as the home of Eastern Michigan University. As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 19,435. The city is bounded to the north by Superior Township and on the west, south, and east by Ypsilanti Township.
The Delhi Bridge, also known as the East Delhi Bridge, is a one-lane, wrought iron Pratt through truss bridge that carries East Delhi Road over the Huron River in Washtenaw County, Michigan. The bridge was completed October 12, 1883 to replace a wooden span built in 1851. In 1917, the bridge was severely damaged by a tornado but was rebuilt. After it was closed to traffic in 2005 for being unsafe, the bridge was renovated and reopened in 2009. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
