Ann Battelle (born January 18, 1968) is a world champion and World Cup champion on the U.S. Ski Team; she competed in the freestyle skiing events of moguls and dual moguls.

Early years

Former U.S. National Champion and World Cup Champion, Olympian, and Olympic Freestyle pioneer Ann Battelle was born in New York, and raised outside Burlington, Vermont. She was brought up skiing, doing competitive gymnastics, and playing soccer in the early years of Title IX. Also a gifted student, Battelle was advanced in mathematics, was fluent in Spanish at a young age, and played the oboe. She was a member of her highly successful varsity soccer team at Champlain Valley Union High School, in Hinesburg, Vermont, as well as a member of the accomplished varsity gymnastics team. Additionally, she skied with friends every weekend possible and on vacations, where her skills with moguls were apparent early on. At Middlebury College, she played varsity soccer and continued to ski a great deal. Recruited by a former high school soccer coach turned moguls coach in Colorado, Battelle skied moguls competitively for the first time after she graduated from Middlebury College in 1989, when she was 21 years old. Less than three years later, Battelle competed in her first World Cup on her 24th birthday, on January 18, 1992, in Breckenridge, Colorado, where she placed 16th in Moguls. In the following two World Cups, she placed 5th and 7th (in Lake Placid, New York, on January 24, 2002, and in Oberjoch, Germany on February 1, 2002), which was good enough to earn her a spot on the US Olympic Team for the 1992 Albertville Olympics. United States Ski Team

On the World Cup, she had 21 podiums, including five victories, in 108 World Cup starts.

She is a four-time Olympian in Moguls, placing 21st in 1992, 8th in 1994, 10th in 1998, and 7th in 2002 (in 2002 she was 2nd in the qualifying round). She also competed in seven FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, her best results coming in Meiringen-Hasliberg, Switzerland, in 1999; she was the world champion that year in Moguls and placed 3rd in Dual Moguls.

She won the World Cup tour in Moguls in both 1999 and 2000 and won gold and silver at the Goodwill Games in 2000. She is also a six-time US National Champion.

Ryan Max Riley is a humorist and athlete who was a humor writer for The Harvard Lampoon. He competed on the World Cup for seven years and was a two-time US National Champion as an athlete on the U.S. Ski Team in the freestyle skiing events of moguls and dual moguls. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and earned master's degrees from the University of Oxford and Yale University.

Middlebury Panthers Varsity athletic teams of Middlebury College

The Middlebury Panthers are the 31 varsity teams of Middlebury College that compete in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The Panthers lead the NESCAC in total number of national championships, having won 34 team titles since the conference lifted its ban on NCAA play in 1994. Middlebury enjoys national success in soccer, cross country running, field hockey, men's basketball, women's hockey, skiing, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse, and fields 31 varsity NCAA teams and several competitive club teams including a sailing team (MCSC), a crew team, a water polo team, and a rugby team. Since 2000, Middlebury's varsity squads have won 84 NESCAC titles. Currently, 28% of students participate in varsity sports.

Shannon Bahrke American freestyle skier

Shannon Bahrke is an American Olympic freestyle skier and entrepreneur. Bahrke was the silver medalist in moguls at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the bronze medalist at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and in 2003 was the World Cup Champion. With her bronze medal in 2010, she became the first US women's freestyle skier to win multiple Olympic medals. Bahrke was also the 2009 US National Champion in dual moguls. She has reached the podium twice at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, winning bronze in 2003 and silver in 2007, both in dual moguls.

Alexandre Bilodeau Canadian freestyle skier

Alexandre Bilodeau is a Canadian retired freestyle skier from Rosemere, Quebec, Bilodeau currently resides in Montreal, Quebec. Bilodeau won a gold medal in the men's moguls at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, becoming the first Canadian to win a gold medal at an Olympic Games held in Canada. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he became the first Olympian in history to defend his gold medal in any freestyle skiing event as well as the first Canadian to defend an individual title since Catriona Le May Doan at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Bilodeau is a three-time FIS World Champion in dual moguls, and is also a two-time Worlds silver medallist in moguls. He was the FIS World Cup champion for the 2008–09 season winning the moguls and overall freestyle skiing title that season. In his final World Cup race, he retired with a win, and in doing so, surpassed Jean-Luc Brassard for the most World Cup medals by a Canadian.

Heather McPhie is an American freestyle moguls skier. She competed for the US Olympic Team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. McPhie earned the Olympic team spot with a 2nd-place finish at the FIS World Cup event at Deer Valley in January 2010. At the 2007 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships McPhie finished in 8th place in moguls, and 9th in duals.

Justine Dufour-Lapointe Canadian freestyle skier

Justine Dufour-Lapointe is a Canadian freestyle skier. She was the Olympic champion in the moguls event at the 2014 Winter Olympics and won a silver medal in moguls at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The gold and silver she and her sister Chloe Dufour-Lapointe won in 2014 was the first time that Canadian sisters stood together on the podium, and the fourth time ever by all nations. In winning the Olympics, she became the youngest freestyle skiing Olympic champion ever at nineteen years of age. Dufour-Lapointe was the FIS World Cup rookie of the year for the 2010–11 season. Dufour-Lapointe was the world champion in moguls at the 2015 World Championships has also won a silver and two other bronze medals in the moguls event at the Freestyle World Ski Championships.

K.C. Oakley

K.C. Brette Oakley is an American freestyle mogul skier and a member of the United States Ski Team. She started competing on the World Cup circuit in the 2011-2012 ski season after finishing first in the NorAm Cup standings at the completion of the 2011 season. K.C. was born in Hollywood, CA and lists her hometown as Piedmont, CA.

Morgan Schild is an American freestyle mogul skier. She competed for the United States Olympic team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Elizabeth Marian Swaney is an American born-and-raised freestyle skier who competed for Hungary in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the women's halfpipe based on her Hungarian ancestry. She was unable to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics for Venezuela in both skeleton and freestyle skiing, and qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in the women's halfpipe, in which she placed last.
