Ann Johnston is an American politician who served as the 77th mayor of Stockton,California from 2009 until 2013. [1] She ran for re-election in 2012 but was defeated by Anthony Silva.
Johnston served as a Lodi Unified School District Board Member from 1979 to 1992. Several years later,in 1994,Johnston ran for the Stockton City Council and won. She successfully ran for re-election in 1998 and left the office in 2002. [2]
Years later,Johnston declared her candidacy for the city's mayor in the 2008 election,and won,receiving 55.8% of the vote. On June 28,2012,during her tenure as mayor,the City of Stockton filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection,making it the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy,until Detroit filed for bankruptcy the next year. San Joaquin County, officially the County of San Joaquin, is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 779,233. The county seat is Stockton.
Stockton is a city in and the county seat of San Joaquin County in the Central Valley of the U.S. state of California. Stockton is the most populous city in the county, the 11th-most populous city in California and the 58th-most populous city in the United States. Stockton's population in 2020 was 320,804. It was named an All-America City in 1999, 2004, 2015, and again in 2017 and 2018. The city is located on the San Joaquin River in the northern San Joaquin Valley. It lies at the southeastern corner of a large inland river delta that isolates it from other nearby cities such as Sacramento and those of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Cathleen Galgiani is an American politician who served in the California State Senate. A Democrat, she represented the 5th Senate District, which encompasses San Joaquin County, and portions of Stanislaus and Sacramento counties.
Ashley Emile Swearengin is an American politician who served as the 24th mayor of Fresno, California. She is Fresno's second female mayor. She was first elected in a run-off election in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012. Swearengin ran for State Controller in 2014. After leaving the mayor's office, she became the president/CEO of the Central Valley Community Foundation.

A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 79th mayor of Stockton, California from 2017 to 2021, and as a member of the Stockton City Council from the 6th District from 2013 until 2017.
