Ann Nderitu, CBS is a Kenyan public administrator and electoral management professional who serves as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Her work has included reforms in political-party governance, institutional regulation, and efforts relating to transparency and inclusion in Kenya's electoral system. [1] She has co-authored manual guides related to election processes, political parties and governance training. [1]
In 2025, Ann Nderitu was appointed as a Commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). [2] Before this she served as the Registrar of Political Parties from (2018-2025). As Registrar, her responsibilities included, registration and monitoring of political parties, and oversight of party governance, regulation and complaints. [3] She also oversaw a project to digitize records and introduced audit and compliance frameworks at the Office of the Registration of Political Parties (ORPP). [4]
Nderitu has faced controversy over her decision related to the Jubilee party's leadership disputes. [5] [6]
Nderitu handled the case where the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party wanted to revoke the party membership of the Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her late Mwambweni counterpart Solomon Dori for their dalliance with then Deputy President William Ruto, who was a member of the rival Jubilee Party. The matter flopped because they did not follow due process. [7]
Some have accused her of being influenced by the ruling Coalition in her decisions. [8] Her tenure at the ORPP also emphasized strengthening internal democracy within political parties, promoting gender inclusion, and enhancing transparency in political party financing.
Nderitu emphasizes the importance of adhering to the law, party Constitution, and regulations to ensure her decisions withstand legal scrutiny and align with her responsibilities as the Registrar of political parties. [9]
Ann Nderitu holds a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree from Egerton University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi. She has also undertaken professional training in governance, leadership, and institutional management both locally and internationally. In 2018, Nderitu received a Diploma in Public Administration from Galilee Institute of Management in Israel.
