Ann Nderitu, CBS is a Kenyan public administrator, governance, and electoral management expert who currently serves as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) She is widely recognized for her leadership in strengthening political party governance, advancing institutional reforms, and promoting transparency and inclusivity in Kenya’s electoral processes. . [1] She has co-authored over 20 manuals, curricula, and guides in education, elections management, and political parties' governance, actively used in electoral and governance training. [1]
Ann Nderitu was appointed as a Commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in 2025, bringing with her extensive experience in public administration, political governance, and electoral oversight.
Before her appointment to the IEBC, she served as the Registrar of Political Parties from 2018 to 2025, where she led the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) in implementing transformative reforms. [2] She secured this role through competitive recruitment, parliamentary vetting, [3] and appointment by the President of Kenya. [4] Her responsibilities as Registrar of Political Parties included the design and implementation of programs aimed at institutionalising political parties, promoting good governance, and ensuring the inclusion of marginalized groups. [5] Under her leadership, the ORPP enhanced the registration, regulation, and monitoring of political parties, spearheaded the digitization of party records, established robust compliance and audit frameworks, and deepened collaboration with local and international stakeholders in democratic governance
Nderitu has faced controversy over her decision related to the Jubilee party's leadership disputes. [6] [7]
Nderitu handled the case where the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party wanted to revoke the party membership of the Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her late Mwambweni counterpart Solomon Dori for their dalliance with the then Deputy President William Ruto who was a member of the rival Jubilee Party. The matter flopped because they did not follow due process. [8]
Some have accused her of being influenced by the ruling Coalition in her decisions. [9] Her tenure at the ORPP also emphasized strengthening internal democracy within political parties, promoting gender inclusion, and enhancing transparency in political party financing.

Ann Nderitu holds a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree from Egerton University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA)in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
