Anna Graham Hunter is an American writer and career coach. [1] [2] [3] Hunter gained notoriety in the wake of widespread sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein in 2017 when she revealed to Hollywood Reporter and in an interview with journalist Cynthia McFadden that Dustin Hoffman had sexually harassed her on the set of the 1985 TV movie Death of a Salesman when Hoffman was 47 and Hunter was 17. [4] [5] Hoffman has since apologized to her for any pain he caused, though denies he did anything wrong. [3] [6] [7] Hunter has written about the experience of coming forward as part of #MeToo. Hunter was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up there. She graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1985 and graduated with a B.A. in Classics from Smith College in 1989. Hunter currently lives in Los Angeles. [3] Despite being sometimes called an "actress" in the media, Hunter has never acted. [3]

Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases Criminal and civil cases since 2017

In October 2017, The New York Times and The New Yorker reported that dozens of women had accused film producer Harvey Weinstein of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse over a period of at least 30 years. Over 80 women in the film industry eventually accused Weinstein of such acts. Weinstein denied "any non-consensual sex". Shortly after, he was dismissed from The Weinstein Company (TWC), expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and other professional associations, and retired from public view.

MeToo movement Movement against sexual abuse and harassment

#MeToo is a social movement against sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and rape culture, in which people publicize their experiences of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. The phrase "Me Too" was initially used in this context on social media in 2006, on Myspace, by sexual assault survivor and activist Tarana Burke. Harvard University published a case study on Burke, called "Leading with Empathy: Tarana Burke and the Making of the Me Too Movement".

The Weinstein effect is a global trend in which allegations of sexual misconduct by famous or powerful men are disclosed. The first of a worldwide wave of allegations were made in the United States in October 2017, when media outlets reported on the sexual abuse allegations made against film producer Harvey Weinstein. The allegations were described as a "tipping point" or "watershed moment" and precipitated a "national reckoning" against sexual harassment.

The 2017–18 United States political sexual scandals include multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, and subsequent firings and resignations of American politicians in 2017 and 2018. She Said is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Maria Schrader, written by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner. It is based on the 2019 book of the same name by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, journalists from The New York Times who exposed Harvey Weinstein's history of abuse and sexual misconduct against women. The film stars Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan as Twohey and Kantor, respectively.
