Anna Petrova (born September 15, 1962) is an artist-monumentalist [1] who has made a significant contribution to the creation, recreation and restoration of the historical and religious monuments of the Crimea.

Biography

She was born in Simferopol. in Ukraine, which was then a part of the Soviet Union. Her father, Petrov Ivan Semenovich, was a painter-batalist and her mother, Petrova Nina Petrovna, was a sculptor.

The annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation took place in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution. On 22–23 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin convened an all-night meeting with security services chiefs to discuss pullout of deposed President, Viktor Yanukovych, and at the end of that meeting Putin remarked that "we must start working on returning Crimea to Russia.". Russia sent in soldiers on February 27, 2014. Crimea held a referendum. According to official Russian and Crimean sources 95% voted to reunite with Russia. The legitimacy of the referendum has been questioned by the international community on both legal and procedural grounds.

Nathalia Edenmont, née Nathalie Nicole Edenmont, is a Swedish-Ukrainian photo-based artist who moved to Sweden and Stockholm in 1991. Edenmont studied art, music and balette at an art school for children at Jalta in the Crimea. Both her parents died while she was a teenager but she continued to study in a Kiev state school for artists and also studied at Simferopol. She moved to Stockholm in 1991, and studied graphic design at Forsbergs skola. While Edenmont paints portraits of people in a style reminiscent of classical paintings, she is better known for her use of dead animals and animal parts in her photographs. She has had exhibitions in London, New York, Berlin and Moscow.

Squatting is the occupation of unused or derelict buildings or land without the permission of the owner. From the 17th century onwards, there have been waves of squatting in Ukraine. In the 21st century, squatting has been practiced by different groups such as artists, anarchists, Ukrainian nationalists, displaced Crimean Tatars returning to the region and refugees created by the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.

Tatiana Godovalnikova is a Russian contemporary artist. Museums in Russia, Germany and Japan as well as private collectors in Israel, Poland, Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland have Godovalnikova’ s art. Her works are presented also at Sevastopol Art Museum and the State Museum of Heroic Defence and Liberation of Sevastopol. In 1992 she became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Association of Art – UNESCO.
