The Prix Ars Electronica is one of the best known and longest running yearly prizes in the field of electronic and interactive art, computer animation, digital culture and music. It has been awarded since 1987 by Ars Electronica.
David Rokeby is an artist who has been making works of electronic, video and installation art since 1982. He lives with his wife, acclaimed pianist Eve Egoyan, and daughter, Viva Egoyan-Rokeby, in Toronto, Canada.

Ryoji Ikeda is a Japanese visual and sound artist who currently lives and works in Paris, France. Ikeda's music is concerned primarily with sound in a variety of "raw" states, such as sine tones and noise, often using frequencies at the edges of the range of human hearing. The conclusion of his album +/- features just such a tone; of it, Ikeda says "a high frequency sound is used that the listener becomes aware of only upon its disappearance". Rhythmically, Ikeda's music is highly imaginative, exploiting beat patterns and, at times, using a variety of discrete tones and noise to create the semblance of a drum machine. His work also encroaches on the world of ambient music and lowercase; many tracks on his albums are concerned with slowly evolving soundscapes, with little or no sense of pulse.

Carsten Nicolai, also known as Alva Noto, is a German musician and visual artist. He is a member of the music groups Diamond Version with Olaf Bender (Byetone), Signal with Frank Bretschneider and Olaf Bender, Cyclo with Ryoji Ikeda, ANBB with Blixa Bargeld, ALPHABET with Anne-James Chaton, Opto with Thomas Knak, and Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto with whom he composed the score for the 2015 film The Revenant.

He has collaborated with other artists and musicians, including Björk on her interactive “app album” Björk: Biophilia that was acquired by New York's MoMA as the first downloadable app in the museum's collection. Between 2000 and 2013 he founded several companies, including Eyegroove, which was acquired by Facebook in 2016. Early in his career, Snibbe was one of the developers of After Effects.

Sachiko Kodama is a Japanese artist. She is best known for her artwork using ferrofluid, a dark colloidal suspension of magnetic nano-particles dispersed in solution which remains strongly magnetic in its fluid. By controlling the fluid with a magnetic field, it is formed to create complex 3-dimensional shapes as a "liquid sculpture".
Emilia Telese is an Italian artist whose practice includes performance, visual, site-specific and video art, interactive and body-responsive technology, installation, literature and public art. She lives and works between Brighton, UK, Foggia, Italy, and Reykjavik, Iceland. Telese graduated in 1996 with a BA (Honours) in painting from the Fine Arts Academy, Florence, focusing on 14th-century techniques, Arte Povera and political performance. In 1997 she studied acid-based printmaking techniques at the University of Brighton, where she continues to lecture. In addition she lectures at other institutions in the UK and internationally, specialising in the relationship between art, economics and professional practice. Her work Life Begins at Land's End (2013) was part of Rebirth Day, a concept organised by Michelangelo Pistoletto. Pistoletto named her a Third Paradise Ambassador, which is a small group of people chosen by him to embody the spirit of his Third Paradise concept. Her videos, along with works by other artists, were shown at the Musee du Louvre in Paris. Her most recent exhibition was Modern Women (2015) at Airspace Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent, with artist Binita Walia.
