Antenna Documentary Film Festival

Antenna Documentary Film Festival was established in 2011. [1] It is an international documentary film festival held annually every October in Sydney, Australia. The festival was set up to promote documentary as an art form, with programming focusing on independent and innovative filmmaking that breaks new ground in the documentary landscape.

Films that have had their national or local premieres at Antenna include Minding the Gap,Aquarelle, Cameraperson,Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, Web Junkie, [2] Faces Places, Mr Gay Syria, [3] 5 Broken Cameras, [4] Leviathan and Virunga . [5]

In addition to film screenings, the festival's program includes talks, masterclasses, and industry-focused events, offering a space for the documentary community to get together to network, learn and develop their filmmaking practices. The 9th Antenna Documentary Film Festival was held between 17 and 27 October 2019. [6] [ needs update ]

Awards

Antenna have three competitive sections; Award for Best International Documentary, Award for Best Australian Documentary and Award for Best Australian Short Documentary.

The Seattle Asian American Film Festival was founded in 1985 and has been revived over the years by different producers. The current iteration was founded in 2012 and made its debut in 2013 by co-founders Kevin Bang and Vanessa Au. It is a revival of of the previously running Northwest Asian American Film Festival, which was directed by Wes Kim from 2003 to 2007 and which had experienced a five-year hiatus. The inaugural film festival was also held at the Wing Luke Asian Museum from January 25 to 27, 2013.
