Mount Sion is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland, founded by Brs O'Connor and Malone, teachers in the above school. Although technically separate from the school, the club still maintains a close relationship with the school, sharing the same sports facilities in the city.

They won on a score line of 2-11 to 1-13. They did not win it again till 2004 ending their 2 final losts in a row. Their most famous player is probably John Mcdade a corner forward for them. He is one of the all time top scorers in championship football with 14-87. He retired in 2018 after losing the 2018 all Ireland semi final to Dublin. He won 2 Sam Maguire cup and 4 lenister football championships. He now manages the Offaly minor football team.

The Nire play in yellow and blue, while Fourmilewater play in blue and white. The related Ballymacarby Ladies' Football club has also enjoyed much success, winning 10 All Ireland titles.

He had a reputation as a tight marking defender and a leader in the backs. In 2012 he was unveiled as the manager of Austin Stacks GAA club located in Tralee, County Kerry, the most successful club in Ireland.

John Bunyan was a dual player from County Kerry. He played both football and hurling with Kerry during the 1970s. Originally from Ballydonoghue Johnny joined up with neighbouring Ballyduff who are more well known for hurling rather than football. Bunyan would go on to be a great player at both codes. In football, he won a Munster Under-21 Football Championship in 1968 and an All Ireland Senior medal in 1975. He played at full forward in the Munster Final having a notable battle with Humphrey Kelliher of Cork and also in the All Ireland semi-final against Sligo. He was omitted from the team for the final against Dublin. On the same day in 1975 his brother Robert captained the Kerry Minors to All Ireland victory over Tyrone. In hurling he also had success winning an All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship medal in 1972 and an All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship in 1976.
