Anthony Tucker (born February 27, 1976) is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is currently the Assistant head coach and running backs coach at Mississippi State.
Tucker played college football at Fresno State from 1994 to 1998 before signing with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He was released by the Giants and signed with their practice squad multiple times over a period of two seasons before being loaned out to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in 2001. [1] Tucker was briefly a member of the St. Louis Rams in 2002 before he suffered a career-ending injury.
Tucker began his coaching career at Lakewood High School in California at the request of one of his friends, who took over as the head coach of the football team. [2] From there, Tucker went on to coach at Colorado as an offensive technical assistant before moving on to Idaho State to coach wide receivers. [3] He also coached at Arkansas State before going on to joining the coaching staff at Maryland as running backs coach. [4] [5] [6]
Tucker was named the running backs coach at UCF in December 2017, on Josh Heupel's inaugural coaching staff. [7] After being promoted to passing game coordinator in 2019, Tucker was named co-offensive coordinator in 2020, splitting coordinator duties with Alex Golesh. [8]
Tucker was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Utah State in 2021. [9] The move reunited him with Blake Anderson, who he worked under at Arkansas State.
On February 18, 2023, Tucker was named co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Indiana. [10]
On December 2, 2023, Tucker was named assistant head coach at Mississippi State. [11] .
Joshua Kenneth Heupel is an American college football coach and former player who is the head football coach at the University of Tennessee. Previously he was head coach at the University of Central Florida, where he compiled a 28–8 record.
Chris Palmer is an American former football coach and college athletics administrator. Palmer served as the head coach for Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) from 1999 to 2000 and in the same capacity with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League (UFL) in 2010. He was the head football coach at the University of New Haven from 1986 to 1987 and at Boston University from 1988 to 1989. Palmer has also served as an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Oilers, Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. Scottie Austin Montgomery is an American football coach who is the assistant head coach and running backs coach for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He most recently was the running back coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to that he was the offensive coordinator at the University of Maryland. Prior to his tenure with Maryland, he was the head football coach at East Carolina University. He had previously served as an assistant at Duke University and for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). Montgomery grew up in North Carolina and played wide receiver at Duke and in the NFL.
Danny Barrett is an American football coach and former player who is the running backs coach for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He served as the interim head coach for the UCF Knights in 2015, and is a former Canadian Football League (CFL) quarterback. He has been the head coach of the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders and the running backs coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Troy McHenry Walters is an American football coach and former player who is the wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). Walters played as a wide receiver and punt returner in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. Walters played college football for the Stanford Cardinal, earning consensus All-American honors and winning the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the season's outstanding college football receiver. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings, and also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions of the NFL.
