He made his professional debut in the Lega Pro for Barletta on 6 April 2014 in a game against Pontedera. [1]

On 11 July 2019 he signed a 2-year contract with Cavese. [2]

On 19 July 2021 he joined Avellino. [3]

On 1 September 2023, Matera moved to Turris on a two-year contract. [4]

On 30 January 2024, Matera signed a 1.5-year deal with Taranto. [5]

On 9 January 2025, he joined Sorrento on permanent basis. [6]
