Anwar Shahadat is a Bangladeshi born US-based writer, filmmaker, and journalist. [1] He has three published books; two short story collections and a novel. He has shot a couple of short films and a feature film.

Career and works

Shahadat started his career as journalist. He then served as a Political and Diplomatic Correspondent for a daily newspaper in Bangladesh. He was editor of a political weekly news magazine.

His published books include Hele Chasha Joal Brittanto, Canvasser Golpokar, and Sanjoa Tole Murga. His short films include Printer Perfect, Falling Leaves, As It Should be, and Nanny.

He has also shot a feature film named; Karigor [2] (The Circumciser). [3]

Monpura, is a 2009 Bangladeshi Bengali film, directed by Giasuddin Selim. The film was remade into Indian Bengali in 2010 as Achin Pakhi, which was directed by Anjan Das. Monpura is a romantic tragedy film set in rural Bangladesh. The shooting took place in various locations, including Dhunat in Bogra, Kushtia and Dhaka.

Motiur Rahman Mollik was a poet lyricist, compositor, writer, organizer, researcher, editor, singer and a cultural leader. He was one of the modern poets of Bengali literature.

Shahnewaz Kakoli is a Bangladeshi film, theatre and telefilm director. She made her debut as a director with the film Uttarer Sur (2012), which was screened in different international film festivals, including Goa International Film Festival, Kolkata International Film Festival (2012), and Third Eye Mumbai Film Festival. The film won 3 Bangladesh National Film Awards.

Jor Kore Bhalobasha Hoy Na is a 2013 Bangladeshi action thriller film. The film directed by Shahadat Hossain Liton and produced by Abdul Mabud Kawser under the banner of Tushar Kotha Chitra. It feature Shakib Khan, Sahara and Ayesha Salma Mukti in lead roles. Misha Sawdagor, Sadek Bachchu, Ali Raj and others also played important roles in the film. It is the first digital film starring by Shakib Khan. It was remake of 2002 Hindi film Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge starring by Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen.

<i>Janowar</i> 2021 film directed by Raihan Rafi

Janowar is a 2021 Bangladeshi crime thriller film directed by Raihan Rafi. The film was produced by Tamjid Atul under the banner of Turn Communications for the streaming service Cinematic. The screenplay, written by Rafi, is based on a true story of robbery, gang rape, and murder that occurred in Gazipur on 23 April 2020. The story depicts a police officer investigating the crime. Taskeen Rahman, Rashed Mamun Apu, Elina Shammi, Jamshed Shamim, Farhad Limon, and Munmun Ahmed star in the film. Filming took place over a fortnight in Uttara, Dhaka, in August 2020. After limited promotion, Janowar released on Cinematic on 14 January 2021. It received a generally positive critical reception and became the most watched title on the service in March 2021.
