Ferdiad, son of Damán, son of Dáire, of the Fir Domnann, is a warrior of Connacht in the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. In the Táin Bó Cúailnge, Ferdiad finds himself on the side of the war opposite to that taken by his best friend and foster-brother Cú Chulainn, with whom he had trained in arms under the renowned warrior woman Scáthach. He and Cú Chulainn are equal in all martial feats, with two exceptions: the Gáe Bulg, a barbed spear which Scáthach has taught only Cú Chulainn to use; and Ferdiad's horny skin, which no weapon can pierce.

The N33 road is a national primary road in Ireland. It provides a link road in County Louth between the N2 Dublin-Derry, M1 Dublin-Belfast, and Ardee-Dunleer routes. The route connects to the N2 and N52 near Ardee, and connects to a junction on the M1 along the Dunleer Bypass almost directly east of the junction on the N2, a distance of 7.59 km. As of 2008 it is the most recently allocated National Primary Route number, and held the record until 2012 when the N40 was created around the south of Cork City.

Ardee Castle also known as St. Leger's Castle, is a fortified medieval tower house in Ireland. Built in the 15th century, the castle was used as a prison during the 17th and 18th centuries and became Ardee's district courthouse until June 2006 when a specialized facility took its place. Ardee Castle is the largest fortified medieval Tower House in Ireland or Britain. The castle was originally built by Roger de Peppard in 1207, but not much is left from the original walls.

The R215 road is a regional road in Ireland which links Ardee with Dundalk in County Louth. The road was originally a section of the N52, however it was downgraded to ease traffic and encourage use of the nearby M1 motorway. Signage on the road have yet to reflect the change.
