The Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) is the flagship law enforcement training facility in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Operated by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, ALETA provides training to all law enforcement agencies in Arkansas free-of-charge.
ALETA was established in 1963 by the Arkansas General Assembly and eventually sited permanently on the grounds of the former Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot near Camden, Arkansas. The Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot was founded during World War II and was turned over to the State of Arkansas by President Lyndon B. Johnson to be turned into a police and fire academy as well as a college. Today, the grounds of the Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot contain Southern Arkansas University Tech, the Arkansas Fire Training Academy, and Highland Industrial Park, as well as ALETA. [1]
For decades, ALETA was the only police academy in Arkansas, and classes were often over capacity. ALETA is still the primary police academy in Arkansas, although the 2004 creation of ALETA-Northwest in Springdale and the 2017 creation of ALETA-Central at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center have somewhat reduced the high demand for classes at the Camden location. ALETA serves as the basic police academy for most state and local law enforcement agencies in Arkansas, although some of the larger departments, such as the Little Rock Police Department and the Arkansas State Police are allowed to operate their own academies under ALETA standards.
The current basic program consists of a 13-week course comprising both hands-on and classroom instruction, designed to prepare students for day-to-day work as patrol officers. ALETA currently offers four 13-week classes a year a at the primary campus in Camden, and two at both ALETA-Northwest and ALETA-Central. Each 13-week class graduates, on average, 100 police officers. The 13-week class is required for those who serve as law-enforcement officers in excess of 21 hours a week. A shorter, 21⁄2-week course, is offered for part-time and auxiliary police officers and is offered as an off-campus class. [5]

The county seat is Hampton. Calhoun County is Arkansas's 55th county, formed on December 6, 1850, and named for John C. Calhoun, a Vice President of the United States.
Camden is a city in and the county seat of Ouachita County in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Arkansas. The city is located about 100 miles south of Little Rock. Situated on bluffs overlooking the Ouachita River, the city developed because of the river. The recorded history began in 1782 when a Spanish military post was established on the site of an old French trading post called Écore à Fabri. When Ouachita County was formed in 1842, American settlers changed the name to Camden. The city became an important port during the steamboat era when Camden became known as the “Queen City” of the Ouachita. In 1864, Camden became the unintended focus of the Red River Campaign, a major Civil War effort resulting in several significant battles. Camden is known as the producer of M142 HIMARS produced by Lockheed Martin.
East Camden is a city in Ouachita County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 931 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden Micropolitan Statistical Area. East Camden was originally called Billkitts Rental Housing and began as a planned community created to support the nearby Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot.

The Basic School (TBS) is where all newly commissioned and appointed United States Marine Corps officers are taught the basics of being an "Officer of Marines." The Basic School is located in Stafford County, Virginia to the south-west of the Marine Corps Base Quantico complex. Each year, over 1,700 new officers are trained, representing such commissioning sources as the U.S. Naval Academy, Navy ROTC, Officer Candidates School, and Marine Corps Limited Duty Officer (LDO) and Warrant Officer, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy accession programs.
RCMP Academy, Depot Division is the police training academy for Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) "cadets." Providing training since its establishment in 1885, the facility is located in the west part of Regina, Saskatchewan, near the airport, and consists of several buildings.

The West Virginia State Police (WVSP) is a state law enforcement agency in the United States that provides police services to the residents of West Virginia. It is the fourth-oldest state police agency in the US. The WVSP was disbanded due to their involvement in quelling of the uprisings on behalf of the coal and mine companies which were surrounding the concept of organized labor in the coal and mine industries. The WVSP was then reorganized as the Department of Public Safety in the second extraordinary session of the West Virginia Legislature on June 19, 1919, as a result of their involvement.

The Arkansas Fire Training Academy is the official fire training institution for the state of Arkansas. The main campus is located on the grounds of Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden, Arkansas, alongside the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
The Colorado Rangers Law Enforcement Shared Reserve is a governmental police agency in the U.S. state of Colorado. Colorado Rangers are sworn, Colorado P.O.S.T. Certified police officers who serve as force multipliers for law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Colorado. The agency is designed to allow law enforcement agencies to reduce duplicated costs for training, equipment, and deployment of police officers by sharing sworn officers by police agencies throughout the state.

Naval Support Activity Charleston, originally designated Naval Weapons Station Charleston, is a base of the United States Navy located on the west bank of the Cooper River, in the cities of Goose Creek and Hanahan South Carolina. On average, US officers spend around 21 weeks training before they are qualified to go on patrol, which is far less than in most other developed countries.
The Master-at-Arms (MA) rating is responsible for law enforcement and force protection in the United States Navy—equivalent to the United States Army Military Police, the United States Marine Corps Military Police, the United States Air Force Security Forces, and the United States Coast Guard's Maritime Law Enforcement Specialist. It is one of the oldest ratings in the United States Navy, having been recognized since the inception of the U.S. Navy.
The Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot was a munitions manufacturing facility of the United States Navy located in Calhoun and Ouachita counties in southern Arkansas. It operated from 1945 until 1957, producing Sidewinder missiles and other weapons. The property was sold off in 1961. Part of the original site now houses Southern Arkansas University Tech. Two of its surviving buildings, the 500-Man Barracks and the Administration Building, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.
