Arnold Alcock (18 August 1882 – 7 November 1973) was an English international rugby union player. [1]
Known as "Doc", Alcock was born in Wolstanton, Staffordshire, and played rugby for Guy's Hospital RFC during his medical studies. His England debut, as a forward against the touring Springboks in 1906, came through fortuitous circumstances. Due to a clerical error, England's original choice Lancelot Slocock had failed to receive an invitation, with Alcock selected instead. An underwhelming performance ensured this would be Alcock's only cap. [2]
Alcock was senior surgeon at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and on his retirement in 1953 became High sheriff of Gloucester. [3] He served 45 years as president of Gloucester RFC between 1924 and 1969. [4]
Michael James Tindall, is an English former rugby union player and a member of the British royal family. Tindall played outside centre for Bath and Gloucester, and won 75 caps for England between 2000 and 2011. He was a member of the England squad which won the 2003 World Cup.

The teams from Guy's Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital were the first to merge following the union of their respective Medical Departments. When King's College Hospital also merged in 1999 the King's College Hospital Rugby Football Club opted to remain separate and in so doing became an open rugby club that no longer represented the Hospital Medics. GKT is notable for having been part of the twenty-one founding members of the Rugby Football Union, and across its joint history has produced many international players.

Howard Marshall OBE was an English rugby union half-back who played club rugby for Blackheath and Richmond and was a member of the first official British Isles tour in 1891. Marshall played just one game for England, scoring a hat-trick of tries on his debut. It is thought, through historical records and the detective work of Sunderland based sport and social historian Keith Gregson, that Marshall sustained a severe knee injury which curtailed his rugby career.
