Arthur Angel is an Australian film, television and stage actor of Greek heritage. [1] He has appeared in films including Metal Skin (1994), Ghost Rider (2007), Van Diemen's Land (2009), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), Red Dog (2011), [2] The Legend of Ben Hall (2016), [3] That's Not Me (2017), [4] West of Sunshine (2017), [5] My First Summer (2020) and the upcoming Fear Below (2024). [6]

On television, he is known for his roles in the series Heartbreak High (1996), Stingers (2002–2004), Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (2012), Mystery Road (2018), Preacher (2019) and Last King of the Cross (2023).

Career

Angel made his feature film debut in 1994 as Paul Secchi in director Geoffrey Wright's Metal Skin opposite Aden Young.

Over a thirty-year career, Angel has appeared in a number of notable Australian and international feature films and television series most notably as Vanno in Red Dog [7] and Robert Greenhill in Van Diemen's Land . [8]

Angel directed and starred in the short film Boy Saviour (2017). [9]

In 2022, Angel joined the cast of the period-set shark thriller Fear Below . [10] Angel was announced in the casting line-up for the upcoming war drama The Guns of Muschu in April 2024. [11]

Van Diemen's Land was the colonial name of the island of Tasmania used by the British during the European exploration and colonisation of Australia in the 19th century. The island was previously discovered and named by the Dutch in 1642. The Guns of Muschu is a 2006 novel by Australian author Don Dennis based on the diary of Sapper Mick Dennis, who was the sole survivor of Operation Copper, a daring raid on the Japanese occupied island of Muschu in 1945 which was carried out by members of the Z Special Unit during World War II.

The Guns of Muschu is an upcoming film directed by Matthew Holmes from a screenplay by Tom Broadhurst and Jack Brislee. The film, an adaptation of the novel of the same name, stars Australian actor Ben Hall in the leading role of Mick Dennis. The development of the film was announced in April 2024.
