Artistas Reunidos

The Artistas Reunidos was a music project by the solo artists Jair Oliveira, Wilson Simoninha, Luciana Mello, Max de Castro, Pedro Mariano, and Daniel Carlomagno. [1] [2] It was active from 1997 to 1998. [ citation needed ]

For a little more than a year, they shared the stage with many important Brazilian musicians such as Jair Rodrigues, Djavan, Ed Motta, Sandra de Sá, Vicente Barreto, and many others. On August 31st, 1999 they recorded the live album Projeto Artistas Reunidos at the club Blen Blen Brasil in São Paulo, Brazil. [2] [3] After the project ended, the six artists pursued their own careers and became popular as solo artists in Música popular brasileira (Brazilian Popular Music).

Quinteto Villa-Lobos is a Brazilian wind quintet, founded in 1962 with the intention of popularizing Brazilian chamber music, featuring the diverse compositions of Heitor Villa-Lobos. The founding original quintet were Celso Woltzenlogel, Paolo Nardi, Wilfried Berk, Carlos Gomes de Oliveira, and Airton Lima Barbosa. The Kalunga Project was a project initiated by the Angolan government to reconnect with those of the diaspora within Brazil. This tour was not only political but also a social commentary connecting Brazil and Angola through music as well as through pop-culture. Brazilian performers were invited to tour Angola, performing as an act of solidarity to the communist party during the Angolan Civil War. The tour took place in the cities Luanda, Lobito, and Benguela. All of the more than 60 performers and artists supported the MPLA in their fight for independence; many singing about anti-colonial struggles through Semba.
